About me and my therapy practice
Everyone one of us face dilemmas and issues that we may need support with; this is where counselling can help you. As an integrative counsellor, with a person-centred foundation, our work is guided by your needs, experiences and goals. I aim to create a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s happening for you at your own pace.
Alongside person-centred approach, I draw on elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help identify thought patterns and behaviours, and psychodynamic approaches to explore how past experiences and relationships may be influencing the present. This flexible approach allows me to create a tailored therapy to your needs, rather than using a one size fits all model. I combine different techniques and interventions to create the most effective therapy for your needs.
My style aims to be warm, collaborative and supportive, and I see therapy as a partnership where we work together to build understanding, resilience and meaningful change to your life.
I offer short, goal focussed and open ended therapy sessions. We can discuss what you would like to achieve in a free 20 minutes telephone consultation.
Sessions last for a therapeutic hour (50 minutes) suited to your preference either face to face, online or telephone.
Practice description
I offer online and face to face counselling for adults aged 18 and over. As well as my counselling qualification, I have over 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, including in community mental health services, supporting people with everyday concerns as well as during times of crisis.
I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress and burnout, relationship difficulties, bereavement, low self-esteem and living with chronic illness.
I have a practical and compassionate approach to therapy. I am a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´ and work in line with their ethical framework.
I participate in regular supervision and continuous professional development to aid my practice. I also hold an enhanced DBS and am insured to practice and registered with Information Commission Office.
All interactions within counselling is kept confidential in line with GDPR.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to counselling. We will explore what you’re hoping for from therapy and discuss how we might work together.
There is no pressure to share more than feels comfortable; the first sessions are about creating a sense of safety, trust and understanding. I will also explain practical aspects such as the therapeutic contract which includes the boundaries within counselling and the confidentiality. You’re welcome to ask any questions you may have.
Before booking, I offer you a free 20-minute introductory call, giving you the chance to see if I feel like the right counsellor for you.
