About me and my therapy practice

You might look like you鈥檙e coping on the outside, yet inside feel anxious, exhausted, or no longer quite yourself. I specialise in supporting adults when life has changed in ways that feel unsettling or destabilising, including relationship changes, menopause, career shifts, and times of re-evaluating who you are or what you want.

Many of the people I work with are used to being capable and reliable, the person others turn to. You may have managed work, relationships, responsibilities, and change before. When coping starts to feel harder than it used to, it can quietly shake your confidence. You might notice more doubt in your decisions, feel overwhelmed by things that once felt manageable, or simply sense that something isn鈥檛 quite right.

Therapy with me is calm, grounded, and thoughtful. It offers space to reflect, understand your experience more fully, and begin to find a way forward. Over time, many people notice they feel more like themselves again, less caught in self-doubt, clearer about what matters, and more confident in their decisions. Situations that once felt overwhelming become easier to navigate, with firmer boundaries and greater confidence in how you handle everyday life.

You might wonder whether what you鈥檙e experiencing is 鈥渆nough鈥 to bring to therapy. If it feels difficult to carry on your own, that matters. I offer an initial phone or online consultation so you can decide whether working together feels right for you.

Practice description

My work is rooted in a person-centred approach, meaning our relationship is central and your experience guides the direction of therapy. We focus on what feels most important and relevant to you, rather than following a fixed formula. This can feel particularly relieving if you are used to holding things together or working things out alone.

Therapy offers a space where you don鈥檛 have to perform competence or arrive with solutions. You can think openly, untangle what feels confusing, and explore what sits beneath the pressure to cope. I aim to create a warm, reflective environment built on trust and care, where you are met as a whole person rather than a problem to be fixed.

Alongside this relational foundation, I draw on CBT to support present-day challenges such as anxiety, overthinking, or feeling stuck, and Transactional Analysis to explore relationship patterns, including how past experiences may still be shaping how you see yourself and respond to others. These approaches are used flexibly, guided by what you bring and what feels helpful.

The aim is not to fix you, but to help you understand yourself clearly enough that change feels grounded and self-directed rather than driven by criticism or pressure. We鈥檒l also check in regularly about how the work is feeling, so therapy remains responsive and aligned with what you need.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin understanding what has brought you to counselling. Many people arrive feeling unsure how to put things into words, especially if they鈥檙e used to managing alone. There is no expectation that you arrive with clarity or a structured story. We start wherever you are.

We鈥檒l explore what feels most pressing at the moment, how it has been affecting you, and what you would like to feel different. I鈥檒l also explain how I work and answer any practical questions, so you leave knowing what to expect and feeling clear about the process.

You are not committing to ongoing therapy by attending a first session. It is a space for you to get a sense of how it feels to talk together and whether this feels like the right support for you.

My aim is that you leave the session feeling understood, respected, and clearer about your next step, whatever that may be.
