About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor (MÂ鶹ԭ´´). My work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens through genuine connection. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment.

The relationship we build in therapy is central. I bring empathy, openness, and respect, creating space for you to explore your experiences at your own pace. When people feel truly seen and valued, new possibilities for self-understanding and resilience can emerge.

While my foundation is person-centred, I also integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). These tools can help in noticing patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour, and in exploring practical strategies for change. I use them flexibly, guided by your needs, so that therapy remains collaborative and authentic.

My aim is to create a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore, supported enough to grow, and empowered to make choices that feel right for you.

Practice description

I offer face to face counselling in Mansfield and online, providing a safe and supportive space for people seeking help with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, and life transitions. My practice is built on the belief that therapy works best when the relationship feels genuine and respectful.

Sessions are tailored to your needs rather than following a fixed model. Sometimes our work may feel reflective and exploratory; at other times it may be more structured and practical. I draw on a person-centred foundation and integrate CBT techniques where they may be useful, offering tools such as thought records, grounding strategies, and practical exercises. These are always offered flexibly, so you can choose what feels helpful.

Clients can expect compassion, respect, and collaboration. My role is not to give answers, but to support you in finding your own. The aim of our work together is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and more resilient in facing life’s challenges.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to see whether counselling feels right for you. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, so the pace is gentle and guided by what you feel comfortable sharing.

In this session, I will explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. There is no pressure to go into detail straight away, the focus is on building a safe and supportive relationship.

I do not offer a different rate for the first session, but I do see it as a space to explore whether my approach feels like a good fit for you. If you decide to continue, we can agree together on the focus of our work and how often you would like to meet.

By the end of the first session, you should have a clearer sense of what therapy with me will feel like, and whether it feels supportive for you.
