About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Abi. Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked as a Mental Health Advisor, where I learned that many people simply want to be heard. This understanding continues to shape my person-centred approach, which values empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and free to explore their experiences at their own pace.

I believe people are not problems to be fixed but individuals with the capacity for growth and self-understanding. My role is to be alongside clients as they build self-awareness, develop trust, and move toward their own goals. Drawing on my background in Psychology, I take a holistic approach, integrating emotional support with psychoeducation and practical tools where appropriate. Above all, I see counselling as a collaborative, human process that nurtures change through understanding and acceptance.

As a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) registered practitioner, I am dedicated to providing compassionate support to individuals facing a variety of challenges.

With over five years of experience supporting people with diverse mental health concerns, I have honed my skills in providing effective therapy services. I am committed to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest evidence-based practices to ensure the highest quality of care for my clients.

Practice description

I at Klewes Counselling offers a safe, supportive space for therapy. I provide online and phone sessions across the UK and internationally: offered on Microsoft Teams/Google Meet/WhatsApp. I also provide face-to-face counselling in Hayle, Cornwall to help you improve your mental health and well-being. In Cornish, 'klewes' means to 'hear; feel; sense; perceive'. This space is all about being heard.

I have supported individuals from all walks of life and with a variety of presenting issues:

Low mood, drug and alcohol use, stress & trauma, anger, anxiety, panic, worry, bereavement, LGBTQIA+, relationships, neurodiversity, family dynamics, confidence, life transitions, adverse childhood experiences, identity, work/life balance.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute chat for you to get a sense of how I work  and ask any questions you may have about the process. If you feel comfortable with me and decide to book, in the first session we will fill out a client contact form and read through the contract together (this can also be sent in advance). Once you've had a chance to ask any questions you may have, we will both sign the contract. The rest of the session is yours to discuss reasons for counselling and give me any background information you're comfortable sharing.
