About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Emily.
I can offer a safe and confidential space where you can talk about what’s going on for you at your own pace. I understand that starting therapy can sometimes feel daunting, and I aim to offer a space that feels consistent, respectful, and human.
Through my experience in therapeutic settings, I’ve learned how important it is for people to have a place where they don’t have to manage everything alone. I bring curiosity, care, and reflection into my work, and I pay close attention to what’s happening in the room between us, as this can often be an important part of the work.
I continue to develop my practice in psychodynamic therapy, which helps me think about how past experiences and relationships can shape how we feel and relate in the present. I also always work within my limits and ethically, and can refer you on if something falls outside my competence.
Alongside my training, I have a background in psychology and an interest in neuroscience, which helps me think about how emotional experience and the mind are connected. I keep up with current thinking and research to support the way I work.
I believe therapy can be a place to slow things down and begin to understand yourself more clearly - not to fix you, but to help you make sense of things in a way that feels more manageable.
If you think we might work well together, please get in touch via the contact form. We can also arrange a free, brief initial conversation if you have questions before you start. I look forward to hearing from you.
Practice description
In sessions, I offer a private and confidential space where you can speak freely and at your own pace. Each session begins on the hour and lasts up to 50 minutes.
I don’t offer advice or quick solutions. Instead, I listen closely with you, and we think together about what your experiences might mean and how they connect across your life and relationships.
Over time, this can help you understand yourself more clearly, notice patterns that may be repeating, and find ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more steady and manageable.
My first session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and see how it feels to talk together.
You can share what has brought you to therapy, and we can begin to think about what you might want support with. There is no pressure to say everything at the beginning, and we can work at a pace that feels right for you.
The first sessions are also about seeing whether we feel like a good fit, and whether this feels like a space where you can talk openly.
