About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Bette.
Life can be overwhelming and looking for a therapist is a big step, but one that puts you on the right path to better mental health.
I'm a warm, compassionate and empathic therapist based in South London but working online with clients across the UK. I work with clients to form a respectful and non-judgmental relationship, and I believe passionately in the benefits of therapy and the difference it can make to our lives.
Working as an integrative therapist means that I use my knowledge to draw on a number of therapeutic theories and apply them to our work, ensuring that you feel fully supported as we journey through our sessions together. I am naturally drawn towards a person-centred approach, putting you front and centre to the work and establishing a respectful and trusting relationship and creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for you. Working with me, your therapeutic journey will be collaborative, together we will explore your needs ensuring you feel heard and fully supported at all times.
My work supports adults, young people (16+) and those from the LGBGTQ+ community navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges including:
Anxiety and depression
Sexual and gender identity
Workplace burnout and career stress
Low self-esteem and self-doubt
Relationship difficulties
Low mood and changed behaviours
Menopause
Chronic pain
Visual impairment and blindness
Practice description
I largely work online which allows us to work together wherever you are. I have also completed the RNIB training in counselling for blind and visually impaired people and am qualified to work over the telephone in a confidential and secure setting.
As a member of the Â鶹Դ´ I aim to offer you a professional, ethical and compassionate space for you to explore whatever is going on in a way that forms mutual trust and respect.
I offer a human, kind and emotionally supportive way of working with you at the heart of each session. Together we'll explore your thoughts and feelings, gently uncovering the challenges you face and exploring ways in which you can develop effective coping strategies.
My practice is fully inclusive and I welcome anyone regardless of gender, age, sexuality, religion, heritage or ability.
My first session
It's daunting picking a therapist and it has to be right for you. I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone or video call where you can get to know me a little and see if we're a good fit.
You'll be able to briefly explain what brings you to therapy and ask any questions that you may have. If we decide to work together we'll go from there, deciding on a day and time that suits you best for our first 50-minute proper session.
This first session will allow us to go through a bit of admin (only a bit) and then begin to get to know each other, making the first steps to exploring what's going on for you and how you can better understand and manage what's happening.
This is your therapy. We go at your pace. We explore what you want to bring when you wish to bring it. We create an environment where you feel able and safe enough to share your concerns.
