About me and my therapy practice
I offer an empathetic, open and non-judgemental space to explore issues together and support you in working towards your goals, at your pace. I listen carefully to and I am guided by what is important to you. Through our sessions together, we will work towards gaining a deeper understanding of the issues that are causing you distress or holding you back in some way and supporting you in making any changes that you feel will help you in living a happier and more fulfilling life.
As examples of areas I may be able to support you with, I have previously worked with issues relating to anxiety, chronic illness, depression, domestic abuse, gender identity, grief and loss, low mood, low self-esteem, medical diagnoses, OCD, trauma and work-related stress.
Please feel free to message me if you have any questions about anything or to discuss possible arrangements for an initial session. I am also happy to offer a free 15-minute telephone conversation, with no commitment, where we can briefly discuss what you are looking for and whether I might be the right therapist for you. Please ask if this is something you’d like to arrange.
A bit about my qualifications and training: I am a certified Â鶹Դ´ registered (MÂ鶹Դ´) counsellor and psychotherapist trained in person-centred therapy. I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7, Â鶹Դ´ accredited) and an MA in Education (I have a background in education and training). I have also completed training in domestic abuse and trauma-informed counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) techniques, which we can discuss integrating if you feel that might be beneficial for you.
If you are interested to know more about person-centred therapy, you can find information on the Â鶹Դ´ website (/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/person-centred-counselling/).
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, as well as any questions or concerns you may have, and to start to talk about the issues that are impacting you. I will explain more about my approach and what our sessions together will involve. It is also an opportunity for you to check that you feel comfortable to work with me. You might decide that you are not ready to continue with therapy at this point or that I am not the right therapist for you, in which case I may be able to help by suggesting other options.
