About me and my therapy practice
Hi! I’m Viki—thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
I understand that seeking therapy is a big step, and I truly appreciate you stopping by to explore whether the counselling I offer might be right for you.
As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to healing and growth. My work is grounded in the belief that each person has the capacity for self-understanding and positive change when supported in a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space. I’m committed to creating a trusting environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.
I take a relational approach, focusing on building a strong, collaborative connection with you. This allows us to explore the challenges you’re facing in a supportive and empowering way. I aim to offer empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a deep respect for your unique journey—providing a space where you can be fully yourself.
Therapy is a partnership. We’ll work together at your pace to explore what you need—whether that’s navigating a difficult period, understanding recurring patterns, or gaining deeper insight into yourself. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Practice description
I’m a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor offering a warm, person-centred and relational approach. I work alongside you, respecting your pace and goals, and tailoring therapy to what feels right for you. When helpful, I may bring in creative approaches—always with your preferences and wellbeing at the heart of the process.
Before training as a counsellor, I completed a PhD in Social Anthropology, at Durham University, specialising in the emotional impact of long-distance relationships, family separation, and the experience of having a loved one in prison. These experiences can bring up complex emotions—grief, shame, disconnection and stigma—and I bring this awareness into my work with clients facing similar challenges.
I’m also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and have explored how our environment and sense of place shape our wellbeing. My work has touched on themes like nostalgia, solastalgia (distress caused by environmental loss or change), and the healing power of meaningful places. These ideas come into therapy too – especially when we’re exploring where you feel at home, where you feel lost, or how identity, place and belonging are part of your story.
Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to offer a relationship that helps you feel more connected to yourself and more able to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Areas I specialise in:
• Relationship difficulties
• Family separation and estrangement
• Grief and loss
• Identity and belonging
• Emotional overwhelm and anxiety
• Long-distance relationships
• Impact of imprisonment on families
• Environmental grief/anxiety and solastalgia
• Life transitions
• Personal development and self-understanding
• Working with counselling trainees
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute phone call as an initial step. This gives us chance to get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit. If you’re new to counselling, we can also talk about what it might look like for you and how it could fit into your life.
If you decide to move forward, the first full session is an opportunity to explore what’s bringing you to counselling. We’ll talk about your hopes, goals, and any expectations you may have. I’ll also explain how I work and what you can expect from me – such as providing a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel heard, supported and respected.
Fees:
• Online or telephone sessions: £55 per 50-minute session
• Limited face-to-face sessions: £60 per 50-minute session
