About me and my therapy practice

I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor and coach with a background in both psychotherapy and senior leadership. My approach is warm, collaborative and tailored to each client. I draw on a range of evidence-based models - including Transactional Analysis, CBT, and Internal Family Systems, to help individuals and couples explore their challenges, deepen self-understanding, and create lasting change.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a CEO across global organisations, which gives me a unique perspective on the pressures of leadership, work, and life transitions. Alongside this, I bring personal experience of loss and resilience, which grounds my practice in empathy and authenticity.

I work with clients on issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, grief, and navigating change. Whether you’re looking for support through a difficult time or wanting to explore your personal growth, I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space where we can work together at your pace.

I’m also the author of the best-selling book Shadow in Tiger Country.

Practice description

My practice is a calm, supportive space where you can bring whatever you’re going through, stress, anxiety, relationship struggles, grief, or simply feeling stuck. I work collaboratively, tailoring therapy to you rather than following a rigid model.

I draw on different approaches, including Transactional Analysis, CBT and Internal Family Systems, which means we can focus on practical tools when helpful, or go deeper into reflection and understanding when that feels right. My aim is to offer both insight and compassion, helping you see new perspectives and find ways forward that feel authentic.

I bring not only my therapeutic training but also many years of experience as a leader, coach and creative professional. This helps me understand the pressures of modern life, from work and family challenges to navigating change and loss.

Above all, I want you to feel safe, understood, and supported. Together we can explore what matters most to you and move towards greater clarity, resilience and connection.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to meet and get a sense of how we might work together. Many people feel nervous before starting therapy, and that’s completely natural. The first session is simply a conversation, there’s no pressure to share more than you feel ready to.

I’ll ask you a little about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to get from it. This helps me understand your needs and gives you a chance to see how I work. You’re welcome to ask me any questions about my approach, the way sessions run, or therapy in general.

Some people come with a very clear idea of what they want to explore, while others just know something doesn’t feel right and they’d like support. Both are absolutely fine. The first session is about finding out if we feel comfortable working together and whether my style of therapy feels like a good fit for you.

I usually use a formal assessment questionnaire in the first meeting, in which I may ask a few simple questions to get a clearer picture of your situation. If at the end of our session you decide you’d like to continue, we can agree on how best to move forward, whether that’s short-term focused work, open-ended therapy, or something in between.

I charge my standard session rate for first sessions. However, I offer a free initial phone/Zoom call beforehand (around 30 minutes) so you can ask questions and get a feel for me before deciding to book.

My aim is to make your first step into therapy as relaxed, supportive and straightforward as possible.
