About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re used to coping alone or feel unsure about where to begin. You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out or misunderstood, or simply sensing that something isn’t quite right. My role is to offer a space where you don’t have to have the answers – just a willingness to show up as you are.
I work in a person-centred experiential way, which means I see you as the expert in your own life. Therapy with me is led by you. We go at your pace, focusing on what feels most important in the moment. I listen carefully to your words, emotions and imagery, offering reflection, empathy and gentle curiosity rather than advice or judgement. Together, we make sense of what you’re experiencing and explore what you truly need.
Many of the people I work with experience anxiety, self-doubt, depression or burnout, often linked to neurodivergence or the pressures of creative or high-demand environments. I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent clients and those in the arts, music or entertainment industries, and I aim to offer a space that affirms different ways of thinking, feeling and being.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel genuinely heard, accepted and understood. I strive to create a calm, supportive and flexible environment, with adjustments where helpful – such as camera-off sessions, movement breaks or creative ways of expressing yourself.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or overwhelming. It can be a human, collaborative process where you can pause, breathe and reconnect with yourself. You don’t have to do it all alone. If you’re curious about working together, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so we can see whether it feels like a good fit. When you’re ready, you’re welcome to reach out and take that first step - and to Speak to Lauren.
Practice description
Speak To Lauren is my private counselling practice offering online therapy for adults across the UK. Sessions take place via secure video call, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own space.
I offer person-centred experiential counselling, a non-directive approach that places you at the heart of the work. You don’t need to prepare or know what to say in advance. You decide what feels important to bring, and we move at a pace that feels right for you. My role is to offer a warm, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can speak freely and feel genuinely heard.
Alongside talking, we may gently explore how experiences show up for you in the moment – emotionally, physically or creatively. This focus on your lived experience can help deepen understanding, reveal patterns and support meaningful change, rather than simply analysing problems from a distance.
Many of the people I work with experience anxiety, burnout, self-doubt or creative blocks, often linked to neurodivergence or the pressures of working in the arts, music or other creative fields. Drawing on my background in the arts and my lived experience of neurodivergence, I aim to create an environment that affirms different ways of thinking, feeling and being.
I welcome reasonable adjustments and collaboration around how sessions work best for you. Where possible, I offer flexibility for those with changing or unpredictable schedules.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at an agreed time. If you’re unsure whether counselling with me feels right, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so you can ask questions and get a sense of how I work before committing.
You can expect a professional, confidential and ethical service, and a supportive space where you can explore difficulties, develop self-understanding and move towards change at your own pace.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call to see if we might be a good fit. This isn’t a therapy session, but a relaxed conversation where you can get a sense of how I work, ask questions about the process or confidentiality, and share what you’re hoping to get from counselling. It’s a chance for both of us to decide whether moving forward feels right.
If we feel it’s a good match, I’ll send an assessment form and contract for you to complete in your own time.
In the first therapy session, we’ll review the contract, talk about any reasonable adjustments or ways of working that help you feel comfortable, and explore what has or hasn’t worked in therapy for you before. We’ll also discuss your goals and expectations. Questions are welcome throughout.
The remaining time is yours to begin wherever you feel ready, whether that’s sharing what’s on your mind, exploring feelings, or simply noticing what’s happening for you in the moment. The first session is about easing into the process at a pace that feels right for you.
