About me and my therapy practice

I bring a creative, relational approach to therapy, integrating practical exercises, psychodynamic insight, and trauma-informed practices to help people process complex emotional experiences, build resilience and re-engage with life and relationships. I am skilled in working with trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence (including ASD), identity formation, and emotional regulation.

My approach is grounded, compassionate, and tailored to meet you wherever you are in your journey. Having grown up on the margins, I understand what it鈥檚 like to feel unseen, unheard, or on the outside looking in. That lived experience shapes the way I listen: with empathy for those who have had to navigate the world in ways that weren鈥檛 always met with understanding or compassion. This experience has enabled me to connect with people from all walks of life, especially those carrying stories that haven鈥檛 always found a safe place to land.

I provide a calm, confidential space where you can be fully seen and thoughtfully supported 鈥 whether you鈥檙e working through the past, facing present challenges, or seeking a clearer way forward. I am especially aware of how shame can keep us silent or stuck, and I work mindfully to create an environment where these difficult feelings can be explored without fear of judgment.

I offer a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation online. It鈥檚 a chance for us to meet, talk about what鈥檚 going on for you, and explore how therapy might help. Most importantly, it鈥檚 a space for you to decide if I feel like the right fit for you. We鈥檒l identify what鈥檚 bringing you to therapy and begin to shape what support might look like.

I usually recommend starting with at least 12 weekly sessions, but this is not a rigid rule 鈥 it鈥檚 a starting point. Sessions last 50 minutes and are typically held at the same time and place each week.

Everything shared in therapy is confidential. And the space we create together is yours 鈥 held with care, curiosity, and no judgment.

Practice description

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with individuals, families, children and teens. At Subliminal Space, my practice is integrative, creative, and relational, drawing on psychodynamic, humanistic, and attachment-based perspectives to provide a safe and reflective space for you to explore what feels difficult.

Often, the struggles we face as adults 鈥 anxiety, shame, people-pleasing, burnout, disconnection 鈥 have roots in early emotional wounds we were never able to name, let alone process. Working with someone trained in child and adolescent development can help uncover and gently address those early patterns 鈥 the ones formed long before we even had the words to describe what was happening. Because even if those experiences are behind us, the feelings they left behind often aren鈥檛. We will work towards laying those things down, examining them gently, and begin to loosen their grip on what no longer serves us.

Alongside my counselling work, I bring a depth of professional and lived experience. Before training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I worked for many years in communications and leadership, which gave me a strong understanding of the pressures of professional life, creativity, and identity. This background enriches my therapeutic perspective and enables me to connect with a wide range of clients.

My first session

I offer a free 30-minute consultation before we begin. This gives us a chance to meet, talk through what you are looking for, and decide together whether I might be the right counsellor for you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about how I work and what to expect.

In our first formal session, I take time to understand your background and current concerns. Together we will begin to build a picture of your family history by creating a genogram (a simple family tree that maps important relationships and patterns). This can be a helpful starting point for understanding how early experiences and family dynamics may still influence you today.

We will also set out a mutual working agreement. This 鈥渃ontract鈥 is not legalistic but provides an important framework: it covers confidentiality, boundaries, and practicalities such as session length, fees, and cancellations. Establishing this agreement helps create a sense of safety and containment, so you can feel secure as we begin therapeutic work.

Finally, we will talk about your hopes and goals for therapy. For some clients, goals are specific 鈥 for example, reducing anxiety, managing anger, or improving communication. For others, they may be broader, such as exploring identity, processing loss, or finding greater self-confidence. Goals are not fixed; they can evolve as our work together unfolds.

The first session is therefore both reflective and practical: it allows you to share your story, helps me to understand your unique context, and lays the foundation for a collaborative and safe therapeutic relationship.
