About me and my therapy practice
My name is Simon Heyes, and I am a 麻豆原创-registered integrated counsellor with a Level 4 qualification in Integrated Counselling and a degree in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy. Being 鈥渋ntegrated鈥 means I draw from different therapeutic approaches and adapt them to suit your individual needs, rather than following one fixed method. This allows me to work flexibly, supporting you in a way that feels personal, respectful, and effective.
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. Life can bring challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or the impact of addiction and recovery. Together, we can explore these experiences at your pace and begin to understand patterns, emotions, and choices more clearly.
My approach is rooted in person-centred values 鈥 placing you at the heart of the work 鈥 while also drawing on elements of CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness. This means I can support both practical problem-solving and deeper personal exploration, depending on what you are looking for.
I believe counselling is not just about working through difficulties, but also about building resilience, reconnecting with your strengths, and moving towards growth and self-acceptance. My role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy and support, while encouraging you to develop insights and tools that can make a positive difference in your life.
Taking the step to begin therapy can feel daunting, but it is also a courageous and empowering choice. If you would like to know more about how I work, or to arrange an initial session, please feel free to contact me at simonheyeshereforyou@gmail.com.
Practice description
As a 麻豆原创-registered integrated counsellor with a Level 4 qualification in Integrated Counselling and a degree in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy, I offer a professional yet approachable space for clients to explore the challenges they are facing. My practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should be tailored to each person. Being 鈥渋ntegrated鈥 means I am able to draw on different therapeutic models 鈥 including person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches 鈥 and adapt them to suit your individual needs and goals.
When you come to work with me, you can expect a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where your thoughts and feelings will be treated with respect. I know how difficult it can feel to reach out for support, and my aim is to make the counselling process as comfortable as possible. Clients can expect me to listen with empathy, offer understanding without judgement, and create the conditions where real and lasting change can begin to happen.
Together, we will explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. I will not tell you what to do or give you quick fixes, but instead help you gain deeper awareness, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Clients often tell me they appreciate my open, down-to-earth approach, which helps them feel understood and supported.
Counselling with me is a collaborative process. You can expect honesty, consistency, and a genuine commitment to your wellbeing. Some clients may want to focus on short-term goals, such as reducing anxiety or managing stress, while others may be seeking longer-term support to work through deeper patterns or past experiences. Either way, my role is to walk alongside you and support you in moving towards greater clarity, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel daunting, but the first session is designed to help you feel safe, supported, and understood. You won鈥檛 need to share everything immediately 鈥 it鈥檚 about beginning the process at your own pace.
In our first session, we鈥檒l focus on introductions, exploring what has brought you to counselling, and setting clear agreements, known as contracting. Contracting ensures a safe, professional space by covering confidentiality, boundaries, session length, fees, cancellations, and ethical practice. Confidentiality is central: what you share stays private, except in situations where safety concerns require disclosure. Boundaries help maintain a professional relationship, and you always have the right to end counselling at any time.
You can expect me to listen empathetically, provide non-judgemental support, and help you explore your thoughts and feelings. Counselling is collaborative 鈥 I will guide gently, offer insights or tools if appropriate, and support you in developing coping strategies and self-awareness.
Towards the end of the session, we鈥檒l review what we鈥檝e covered and discuss next steps. I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation beforehand to answer questions and see if my approach feels right for you. My aim is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported to take the next steps on your journey.
