About me and my therapy practice
Hi I am Marie, I believe that the most important thing is finding a counsellor that you click with and feel comfortable enough to talk to. We start to feel better when we find someone who understands us and we can connect with, REGAINING parts of ourselves.
Like many people, I鈥檝e had times in my life when I needed support. Seeing a counsellor during these times made a huge difference and inspired me. It showed me how life changing it can be to have someone truly listen鈥攚ithout judgement.
Coming to counselling for the first time can feel daunting, I understand that completely. You might wonder, 鈥淲hat will I say? Will I be judged? Will this help me?鈥. These are very common thoughts. It鈥檚 natural to feel nervous about opening up to someone you鈥檝e never met. But in our sessions, there鈥檚 no pressure to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. The most important thing is showing up and being open to the therapeutic process.
I offer empathy, kindness, honesty and unconditional positive regard within a safe and confidential space.
I have over 25 years experience working with young people and adults of all ages, within private and voluntary settings as well as public settings (KCC). I have a passion for promoting young people and adults wellbeing and for mental wellbeing. I am Mental Health first Aid trained. Over the last few years there has been a rise in mental health challenges for young people and adults. This has led me to focus my practice on supporting clients of all ages, using whichever approach suits your needs the most. Some prefer face-to-face talking therapy, while others prefer a Draw and Talk approach. I offer both and can tailor these to your needs and preferences.
As well as my private practice, I鈥檝e worked in a variety of different settings. I鈥檝e provided emotional well-being support within education settings (Primary, secondary and SEN schools), social care settings and in wider community programs.
