About me and my therapy practice
I offer a space that is thoughtful, steady, and grounded in empathy. My extensive experience working in the arts outside of my therapy practice continues to shape how I listen, with curiosity, sensitivity, and an openness to what isn’t immediately obvious.
Therapy with me isn’t about rushing to solutions. It’s about taking time to notice what’s happening in your thoughts, your feelings, and in the space between us. Together, we might gently explore patterns that feel hard to shift, or experiences that are difficult to put into words.
I will listen carefully and reflect with you, sometimes offering thoughts or observations, but always at a pace that feels manageable. There may be moments of quiet, moments of uncertainty, and moments where something begins to make a bit more sense. We work with whatever emerges.
Practice description
People often come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of themselves. In our sessions, you don’t need to have things figured out. You can bring confusion, contradiction, or not knowing where to start.
My approach is integrative and psychodynamic, which means we’ll be curious about how your past and present connect, but always in a way that feels relevant to you now. I draw on different ways of working, but the relationship we build is central.
Sessions are a space where you can speak freely, pause, reflect, and sometimes sit with things that feel unclear. I won’t try to fit you into a box or offer quick answers. Instead, I aim to help you stay with your experience long enough for something new to emerge, whether that’s insight, a shift in perspective, or simply feeling more understood.
Over time, this process can help you develop a deeper awareness of yourself, your relationships, and the choices available to you.
My first session
The first session is primarily a chance for us to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit for collaborative work. It's a low-pressure opportunity for both of us to ask questions.
We’ll discuss what brings you to counselling now and what you hope to gain. I will provide a brief overview of my Integrative Psychodynamic approach and how we might work together to explore your unique experiences and goals.
This session will include a brief initial assessment to ensure I have a comprehensive understanding of your history and needs. While my standard session rate applies, there is no commitment at this point.
