About me and my therapy practice
Specialist Counsellor for teenagers, young people and adults - autism, ADHD, SEND, trauma, school stress and emotional overwhelm, including those who are supporting them.
Practice description
Many of the people who contact me say something along the lines of: 'We've tried everything... and we still feel stuck.' Over time, this can leave people feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and unsure where to turn next.
That might be a parent worried about their child, a young person who feels overwhelmed or misunderstood, or an adult who has been coping (and/ or caring) for years and feels exhausted. Often there isn't one neat reason - just a sense that something isn't right and support is needed.
I'm Leanne, a Â鶹Դ´-registered integrative counsellor and advanced practitioner with over 25 years' experience in education (mainstream and special). I've had 20 years' experience at senior leadership level, and hold a Master's degree in Education. My work now focuses on counselling teenagers, young people and adults, particularly (but not exclusively) those who are autistic, have ADHD, SEND, are care-experienced or are struggling more generally with overwhelm, burnout, trauma, identity, anxiety, or school-related stress.
Alongside counselling, I've worked for over two decades inside educational systems. My background includes roles as headteacher, SENCo, teacher and founder of specialist schools.
What this means in practice is that parents, young people and professionals often don't have to explain everything from scratch. I understand school systems, EHCP's, safeguarding frameworks, and how early distress can be missed, misunderstood or masked. Families often tell me they feel relieved to work with someone who understands both the emotional side and the wider context around it.
