About me and my therapy practice

Reshape your life with counselling, one small step at a time.

I'm Liza and here at Elbee Counselling, I offer one to one, down to earth, compassionate therapy, that is always tailored to be individual to you. Counselling that will help, when you are feeling overwhelmed, lost, or stuck. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, family issues, anger, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, bereavement, relationship breakdowns, or feeling sad. I am here to guide you through it.

Why choose me?

I have lived experience of family addiction, parental estrangement, and self-worth struggles. This means I understand the strength and courage it takes to reach out to a counsellor. I also bring almost thirty years of real world experience, from my previous career in plumbing and heating, which has helped me to build a unique and down to earth approach to counselling.

This experience, combined with my professional training and experience, allows me to offer a whole person, empathetic approach, offering a space where you can bring your whole self, feel safe, feel seen and be heard.

Alongside supporting you with self-worth, confidence issues, anxiety, grief and relationship struggles, I also specialise in:

Men’s Mental Health

Creating a safe space for men to explore their mental well-being. I have thirty years of real world experience in operations within builders and plumbers merchants. This means that I understand male anger instead of stigmatising it. I also offer support to partners of women in menopause who are struggling to navigate the changes to their partner and their relationship.

Menopause

Supporting women and their partners, through the emotional and physical changes of perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

Through evidence-based, non-judgemental, and a personalised approach, I help you build resilience and emotional strength, one session at a time. My approach is straightforward, down to earth, empowering, and rooted firmly in your well-being.

Practice description

I love working with people and believe that everyone has within them the power to change and grow, whilst working towards their true potential.

I am an integrative counsellor, therefore our sessions will always be rooted in Person Centred theory. This means that you will do most of the talking, whilst I listen to you carefully, allowing me to understand your experiences. I will never offer you advice or try to fix you, however I may as sessions progress introduce some TA or CBT theory if it feels it may be of benefit to you.

Online or telephone counselling is easy to book and can fit easily into your life as you can have it from anywhere, home, office the car or van, so long as the location is safe and confidential.

I see face to face clients in Stockport from Turn the Pages, Great Moor offices, where I have access to a number of different counselling rooms, to suit your needs. From here I support clients that come to therapy presenting with many different concerns, from anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, depression and low-mood, bereavement, identity crisis, relationship problems, work life stress, and Neurodivergence supporting those with Autism, ADHD and Sensory profile needs.

My first session

Ahead of our first session I will send you a client information form to be completed ahead of the session.

I will also send you my contract for you to look over. During the first session we will talk though the contract and what it means to you. I will then request that you sign after the first session.

I will then use the remainder of the first session to find more out about you, such as who you have in your life, what has brought you to counselling, what you are currently struggling with, what you would like to achieve from counselling and what your priorities are.

If you are not ready to jump straight into a counselling session just drop me a message and we can arrange to have a short phone call where you can ask me any questions you may want answering ahead of starting counselling.
