About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Charlie. I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering weekly talking therapy both online and in person in Dalston, E8 and Stoke Newington, N16. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I believe there are many paths towards healing, and that genuine human connection can be a central part of that process.
My role is to walk alongside you in whatever you may be going through. I take a non-judgemental stance so we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, and welcome the thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to express elsewhere. I’ll ask thoughtful questions and share honest reflections that get to the heart of things.
I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds as a counsellor for the charity Mind and for a private low-cost therapy service. My diploma in Integrative Counselling is through The Minster Centre. They are one of the longest established and leading institutions in Integrative Psychotherapy in Europe. This is where I am currently working towards my MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
Before retraining as a therapist I worked as a jewellery designer and within the wellness field. I was inspired by my own experience of talking therapy, therefore believe it can not only see you through challenging times but be truly transformative. It’s normal for starting therapy to feel daunting but facing life's challenges can be easier when you feel less alone.
Practice description
What do I specialise in?
I work with clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, hopeless, or disconnected, in ways that may be described as anxiety or depression. These feelings often follow experiences of trauma or abuse.
I have supported many people through grief and loss, whether related to death and bereavement (including animal companions), a breakup, or grieving a life you once imagined for yourself.
Who do I work with?
I work affirmatively with gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity, as well as with neurodivergent clients (ADHD and Autism). Much of my experience is in supporting people living with hormonal issues, chronic illness, and chronic pain. I’m interested in what your diagnosis means in your life, as well as who you are beyond any label.
I recognise that our social and political identities shape us in complex ways, and that these identities often intersect to create unique experiences of privilege and oppression. I aim to remain sensitive to religious and cultural differences and attentive to how difference may be experienced within the therapeutic relationship.
What is my modality?
I draw from person-centred, relational, existential, and psychodynamic approaches. This means we may reflect on how your early experiences and environment have shaped the way you feel, relate to yourself, and connect with others.
I am trauma-informed and can support you in understanding your nervous system and how your body responds to trauma. I may offer grounding techniques, such as guided visualisations, to help you feel calmer and more regulated.
I also weave in elements of transpersonal, animist, and Jungian approaches. If spirituality, symbolism, or your relationship with the natural world feels meaningful to you, I offer an open, reflective, and creative space to explore these themes together.
My first session
If you feel that talking therapy might be right for you and you're interested in working together, please get in touch by text or email.
I will let you know my availability and we can arrange a free, no-obligation 15-minute introductory call via phone or video. This first meeting is a chance for us both to see whether we’re a good fit.
I’ll ask some questions about your reasons for seeking therapy and a bit about your background. You are welcome to ask me any questions and can hopefully get a sense of what it is like talking to me.
If we decide to more forward we will decide on a day and time to meet for weekly therapy. I will then send you a personal information sheet and therapy agreement to fill out.
If we decide not to move forward together, I’d be happy to suggest alternative options or refer you to other resources.
