About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Charlie. I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering weekly talking therapy both online and in person in Dalston, E8 and Stoke Newington, N16. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you but believe that genuine, present human connection is at the centre of meaningful therapy.
I support people through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, many of which may be described as anxiety or depression. They can emerge in the aftermath of trauma or abuse but may also be shaped by our social and material conditions.
My role is to walk alongside you in whatever you may be going through. I take a non-judgemental stance so we can explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, and welcome the thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to express elsewhere. I’ll ask thoughtful questions and share honest reflections that get to the heart of things.
I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds as a counsellor for the charity Mind and for a private low-cost therapy service. My diploma in Integrative Counselling is through The Minster Centre. They are one of the longest established and leading institutions in Integrative Psychotherapy in Europe.
Before retraining as a therapist I worked as a jewellery designer and within the wellness field. I was inspired by my own experience of talking therapy, therefore believe it can not only see you through challenging times but be truly transformative. It’s normal for starting therapy to feel daunting but facing life's challenges can be easier when you feel less alone.
Practice description
Often, our struggles show up most clearly in our relationships. I view the therapeutic relationship as a space where we can notice and reflect on these patterns as they emerge. This process can help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and begin to express your needs more openly. Feeling seen and understood can create the conditions for something new and more authentic to emerge.
I specialise in working with grief and loss, whether related to death and bereavement (including animal companions), a breakup, or grieving a life you once imagined for yourself. I believe therapy offers a space to honour your pain, while also helping you reconnect with life and rediscover your desire, curiosity, and hope.
Who do I work with?
I work affirmatively with gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity, as well as with neurodivergent clients (ADHD and Autism). I have experience supporting people living with hormonal issues, chronic illness, and chronic pain. I’m interested in what your diagnosis means in your life, as well as who you are beyond that. I welcome people from all backgrounds, faiths and cultures and remain attentive to how difference may be experienced within the therapeutic relationship.
How do I work?
We may reflect on how your early experiences and environment have shaped the way you feel, relate to yourself, and connect with others. If spirituality, symbolism, or your relationship with the natural world feels meaningful to you, I offer an open, reflective, and creative space to explore these themes together.
I am trauma-informed and can support you in understanding your nervous system and how your body responds to trauma. When appropriate, I offer grounding techniques, such as guided visualisations, to help you feel calmer and more regulated.
My first session
If you feel that talking therapy might be right for you and you're interested in working together, please get in touch by text or email.
I will let you know my availability and we can arrange a free, no-obligation 20-minute introductory call via phone or video. I’ll ask some questions about your reasons for seeking therapy. You are welcome to ask me any questions and can hopefully get a sense of what it is like talking to me.
If we decide to more forward we will schedule an initial consultation. We can then decide on a day and time to meet for weekly therapy. I will send you a personal information sheet and therapy agreement to fill out.
If we decide not to move forward together, I’d be happy to suggest alternative options or refer you to other resources.
