About me and my therapy practice
I'm Ayesha (she/her), a Â鶹Դ´-registered integrative psychotherapist offering in-person therapy in Bethnal Green, East London and online across the UK.
I work primarily with people from the Global Majority (a term used to recognise people from ethnic minority backgrounds as part of the world's majority) — particularly British Asian women — navigating grief, childhood trauma, relational wounds, and the effects of growing up between cultures.
I also work with adults from diverse backgrounds carrying a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety and depression, questions of identity and self-worth, the emotional impact of illness, spirituality and belonging, and the effects of past abuse or trauma.
My approach is depth-oriented, relational, and integrative — shaped by a background in arts and culture that informs how I think about identity, story, and what we carry.
I trained at the University of East London (PGDip Counselling and Psychotherapy) and hold an MA from the Royal College of Art. I have worked clinically with low-cost counselling services and a grassroots women's mental health charity in East London.
I aim to offer a space that is culturally fluent, grounded, and attuned — where all parts of you are welcome.
Practice description
Integrative psychotherapy draws on different therapeutic models shaped around your individual needs. My work is grounded primarily in the psychodynamic perspective — exploring unconscious patterns, relational history, and the deeper emotional meanings shaping how you live and relate — with additional training in trauma and grief work.
Relationship is at the heart of how I work. I offer a compassionate, collaborative space where you can reflect openly and deepen your understanding of yourself at your own pace. Our work may involve exploring memories, dreams, cultural experiences, and the stories we have inherited, as well as the ones we have lived.
My background in arts and culture informs my interest in language, symbols, and the way we make meaning.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone or Zoom before we begin, so we can get a sense of whether working together feels right — with no obligation to proceed.
If you choose to move forward, the first session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy, to think together about the approach that might suit you best, and to get a feel for what it is like to work with me. There is no pressure to have everything clearly articulated — many people arrive knowing only that something isn't right, and that is enough to begin.
Initial sessions last one hour and are £80. I offer both short-term and longer-term work depending on what feels most useful, and I hold a small number of reduced-rate places for those who cannot afford the full fee.
Sessions are available in person in Bethnal Green, E2, and online across the UK.
