About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, grounded, heart-centred presence aiming to create a sacred, safe, and compassionate space where you can explore your experiences without judgement.
I am an integrative psychotherapist; therefore, I draw on a range of therapeutic/psychological methods that is tailored for you and your needs.
I am grounded in the belief that we are mind, body, heart and soul. From this place, I can support you identifying your values and living true to them, even through life’s challenges. I can help explore the roots of emotional distress in your relationships and experiences (past and present) leading to greater integration of aspects which have perhaps been difficult to acknowledge. Through my guided study of traditional Islamic spirituality, I can bring holistic and religious perspectives to your challenges, rooted in compassion and wisdom - only if you feel that is right for you.
In addition, I am an academic researcher who teaches and publishes. I am currently exploring how a talking therapy based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) can be spiritually adapted. I have had specialist training in ACT for people who are living with cancer.
My training in Islamic Psychology is from Cambridge Muslim College and can offer specialist Islamic counselling inspired by Dr Rothman's Shifa method and my own work. I am also part of the Luton and Dunstable hospital NHS trust clinical ethics committee helping clinicians and families navigate challenging and sometimes painful decisions about their care, or the care of their loved ones.
I have previously worked as a relational therapist for NHS Talking Therapies
Practice description
My therapy practice is a warm, heart-centred space where you are welcomed just as you are — with all your hopes, fears, questions, and yearnings. I work with adults and young people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
In our sessions, you will have the space and privacy to explore and feel truly listened to. I will be your companion on this journey, and everything you share will be kept completely confidential.
I am curious, patient, and believe that everyone has the capacity to transform, overcome difficulties, find meaning, and gain a deeper sense of self. When we begin to understand why we feel, think, and behave as we do, we grow more compassionate towards ourselves and others, feel more connected, better able to cope, and more hopeful about our past, present, and future.
Together, we can gently navigate life’s challenges, find supportive ways of coping, and open the door to deeper healing and growth.
At present, I offer online sessions, and will soon be offering in-person sessions in E1 (East London) and Luton.
Please feel at ease to reach out to me
My first session
Firstly, we will arrange a chat, free of charge, to discuss what has brought you to seek therapy and provide you with the space to ask any questions you may have. You will be welcomed and made to feel at ease.
If you decide you would like to have sessions with me, our first session will be a chance for you to share in more detail, what has brought you to therapy, with no pressure to share anything you are not ready for. I may ask some gentle questions to get a better sense of your background and to give us a chance to connect. A session will last 50 mins.
