About me and my therapy practice
About Me
I’m Jenny, and I offer talk therapies tailored to each individual’s requirements. Working together, I aim to empower clients through personal growth and self-compassion. I can help you build resilience and positive mental well-being, to hold space for you to discover your authentic self, feel more fulfilled in your life and relationships, and create meaningful change.
I work with both adults and children across a wide range of issues including: childhood trauma, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, coercive control, grief, anxiety, depression, bullying, relationship difficulties (family, friendships, work, partners etc), bereavement, loss, identity, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodiversity, self-harm and suicidal ideation. I also have over twenty years’ experience in the creative industries.
I see clients in-person at The Centre for Counselling, as well as on-line. I adhere to the Â鶹Դ´ code of ethics, have an enhanced DBS certificate, safeguarding training and professional liability insurance.
Creative Industries and Freelancers
I have over twenty-years’ experience working in the creative industries and have a deep understanding of the specific pressures on freelancers and creatives in the workplace, particularly those who are neurodivergent and/or part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse
I am passionate about helping individuals experiencing relationship and family trauma, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse or coercive control.
Children and Young People
I am passionate about working with Children and Young People. I have previously worked in a school setting counselling children in year 7 to year 13 on a range of issues including: bullying, family dynamics, friendships, self-harm, disordered eating, bereavement, EBSA and SEN.
Understanding Neurodivergence
I have a deep understanding of the difficulties faced by individuals who are neurodivergent, as well as the challenges of parenting children with SEN.
Practice description
Counselling
I work in a client-led way to put your needs at the heart of our sessions. Our work together may include a range of techniques and skills to help you process difficult experiences and feelings, and identify healthy coping mechanisms to manage any challenges you may be experiencing. This can include: Person-centred therapy, CBT , Psychodynamic therapy and holistic interventions such as guided imagery, breath-work or mindfulness.
Trauma-informed Therapy
When working in a trauma-informed capacity, I work somatically with the mind-body connection to foster self-awareness and body wisdom – helping you to establish a felt-sense of safety, increase your capacity for processing T/trauma(s), and integrate your lived experiences, healthy coping skills and resilience.
Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse
If you have experienced narcissistic or controlling behaviours with family, friends or a partner, feel stuck in a challenging relationship or are recovering after leaving a toxic relationship, I can help with processing and healing trauma to enable you to thrive.
Children and Young People
I meet with the child and parents for the first session during which we can discuss confidentiality, boundaries, working safely and ethically and I can answer any questions you may have. I have an enhanced DBS and safeguarding training.
Understanding Neurodivergence
Whether neurodiversity is a life-long diagnosis or you are newly diagnosed, I can help with understanding yourself through a neurodivergent-informed lens, and enable you to build a tool kit of coping skills and strategies.
LGBTQ+ Positive Practice
Whatever challenges you may be facing, I warmly welcome people of all genders, sexualities and identities in my practice.
My first session
You can book a free 15-minute call to chat through what you are seeking from therapy, and to find out if I am the right Therapist for you, before our first session.
