About me and my therapy practice

How The Light Gets In is a counselling and therapy service for Adults located in Leeds City Centre.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, going through a tough time, or simply in need of space to reflect, I can help.

Maybe you’re worried that there’s ‘something wrong’ with you and feel like everyone else has it all sorted? Maybe you feel like your problems aren’t ‘bad enough’? Don’t let this fear hold you back from seeking help.

I am experienced in supporting adults of all ages with various issues related to their mental health in educational, third sector, and NHS settings. I offer a calm, safe, supportive space to explore whatever you're facing, from anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship issues, trauma, or simply feeling stuck.

Often, what we think of as our ‘struggles’ can, with the right support, be transformed into our most valuable treasures - they are ‘how the light gets in’. This belief, shaped by my own therapy journey, is at the heart of my practice. I’d love to support you on yours.

Practice description

I have completed training in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have supported adults of all ages with various issues including: anxiety and depression; grief and loss; relationship breakdown and divorce; sex and sexuality, gender identity, neurodivergence, chronic illness; life transitions (including perimenopause and menopause; retirement); trauma (including sexual violence); fertility, IVF and difficulties with conception.

I am a humanistic, integrative therapist. This means I draw on a range of approaches to find what works best for you. I can tell you more about this as we work together if you’re interested. But what is key to therapy is the relationship you and I form. So, it’s important that I’m the right therapist for you and you feel comfortable with me. To find out, book your free 20-minute chat with me and we’ll take it from there.

My first session

Contact me below to arrange a free 20-minute phone call. We can have a chat and you can see if you feel comfortable with me. There’s no obligation. It’s important you choose the right therapist for you. In the call I’ll ask you some questions about what’s going on for you to see how I can help you. Then, if you’re feeling comfortable we can book in an initial session to agree a way forward in terms of you identifying your desired outcomes for therapy and the frequency and timing of appointments.

I value inclusivity and social justice is at the heart of my practice. I understand that not everyone experiences the world the same way because of social and political inequalities. My previous experience in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training and research informs my work.

I am a LGBTQIA-affirming and neurodivergent-affirming therapist.

All of this means that I accept you as you are and work to support your lived experience, however I can.
