About me and my therapy practice
I am a bilingual counsellor and a psychologist with over 10 years of experience in mental health, including 5 years of professional practice.
I started my career as an NHS Assistant Psychologist, providing support to individuals in both community and hospital settings. I hold a master’s degree in psychology and have developed expertise as both a practitioner and researcher in mental health.
As a counsellor, I work independently with clients from diverse mental health backgrounds, offering support for issues such as mood disorders, cognitive impairments, trauma, and learning disabilities. I am trained in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), person-centred counselling, and conducting neuropsychiatric assessments.
In addition to my clinical practice, I contributed to the field as the corresponding author of an original quantitative research study on mental health, furthering evidence-based practices.
I am passionate about providing client-centred care and maintaining high ethical standards to support individuals in their mental health journey.
I am also a cultural sensitive counsellor. I specialised in supporting immigrants in the UK. I understand that the journey of an immigrant is one of immense courage and resilience, but it can also be accompanied by unique challenges that feel isolating and overwhelming.
Practice description
The approach I take depends on the unique needs of each client. I understand that most people encounter moments in their lives when coping feels overwhelming, and there are many valid reasons why you might seek support from a professional.
In my practice, I mainly use person-centred counselling and therapeutic art exercises. At the heart of my work is a commitment to provide empathy and unconditional positive regard to the clients. I aim to help clients recognise and express themselves, building upon their strengths, empowering them to move forward with confidence and purpose.
As a cultural sensitive counsellor, my approach is rooted in cultural humility and intersectionality. I am not here to be an expert on your culture, but to be an expert in creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where your unique experiences are heard, believed, and validated.
Together, we will explore your story, strengthen your coping strategies, and process the complex emotions that arise from living.
My first session
I believe the foundation of good therapy is a strong, trusting relationship. I offer a free 15-30 minute video call for us to connect, discuss your needs, and ensure we are a good fit to work together before you make any financial commitment.
