About me and my therapy practice

As a registered therapist, I combine my experience as a doctor to create a safe, collaborative space. Challenges like bereavement, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or ageing may feel overwhelming. This invitation encourages you to take the first step.

I am here to listen and work with you, not to offer ready-made answers. I provide a safe and respectful space where therapy is a collaborative process that honours your expertise in your life and your autonomy, while bringing my knowledge and skills to create what feels right for you. I offer my authentic self and invite you to do the same with no fear of judgement.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years as a GP with a focus on palliative care, dementia and geriatrics. This showed me how closely our emotional and physical health are connected, and how healing requires attention to both. It led me to retrain as a therapist (BSc Person-Centred Pluralistic Therapy, Hons, Advanced Practitioner), where I’ve been able to deepen and broaden my skills.

Loss can take many forms—bereavement, illness, changes in health or memory, the ending of relationships, or a shift in identity through aging, relocation, or financial change. These experiences can leave us feeling unmoored and struggling to make sense of life. I work alongside you to explore the impact of these challenges and to find ways of living with greater understanding and resilience.

Practice description

I work with adults facing a wide range of difficulties, including:

• Grief and bereavement

• The impact of life-changing or life-limiting illnesses including chronic illnesses and cancer, dementia, or end-of-life care

• Anxiety and depression

• The emotional impact of aging and/or isolation

• Support for carers and families

• Life transitions and adjustments

• Relocation and immigration

In addition to talking therapy, I may use creative methods such as sand tray work to help express feelings that are hard to put into words. I offer sessions online and by phone, as well as in person, making therapy accessible and flexible to your needs. I  try when possible to offer flexibility to accommodate your needs. House calls are available for care homes on discussion.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute phone or video call for us to see if we would like to work together.

Therapy is a challenging and highly personal journey and it is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. There is no obligation to continue if the 'fit' does not feel right.

In our first session, we may explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and how we might work together. Or you may not have answers to these questions—and that’s absolutely fine. Sometimes it’s simply a feeling, or a deep sense that something needs to change. This space is for exploration at your own pace, in safety. I will never push for information or insist on answers; instead, I will accompany you with time and respect as you find your own way forward.

Each of us is a unique product of self, family, culture and society and therefore we will need something specific to ourselves. I offer a safe and respectful space to be heard, working together in a way that honours your individuality and what matters to you.
