About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Judith. If you are reading this, you are probably thinking about reaching out to someone for support. It is important to find a counsellor or psychotherapist who feels right for you, so I will try to give you some idea of who I am and how I work.

I believe we are more than our mind, our thoughts, feelings and body; we have a soul. What our soul needs is not always clear to us, or it may feel frightening and it may not seem to align with the life we are living. I will offer you a warm and confidential space to explore what brings you to counselling. Sometimes it can be helpful to work creatively or on a energetic level to gain clarity and insight. If I think a specific activity or technique may be helpful, I will explain and offer it to you and it will always be your choice to say yes or no.

Life can be hard and painful. You may feel overwhelmed, confused or stuck; perhaps you want some kind of change. Sometimes we know what is making life difficult and sometimes we don’t know. You may feel that you’re not living fully, that there has to be something more.  You may feel stuck or uncertain in a situation or relationship. You may have experienced trauma. Life is constant change, and we all experience loss and grief, which can be painful and difficult to navigate. Or perhaps you feel like you do not belong or yearn for something more, something different… There are many issues and experiences that can make life difficult.  

Practice description

I am a qualified, integrative, humanistic counsellor, which means that I am interested in all of you (not just your thoughts and feelings) and that I use different approaches to help you explore what you want support with. I have experience working with a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, self-worth, change, loss and grief, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, identity, LGBTQ, and life transitions. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Âé¶¹Ô­´´) and I work within their ethical framework.

Our work together can be short term or long term, depending on what you need and want.

I am also a shamanic practitioner and experienced speech and language therapist and have extensive experience of working with neurodivergent people, and in particular Autism, ADHD, and people who stammer.

I would love to have a conversation with you to find out if we are a good fit to work together. I offer a free 20 minute telephone or online conversation to help you decide if you want to work with me.  

My first session

During the first session I will ask you some questions to get to know you, find out what has brought you to seek counselling and think about what you want to explore.  We will also talk about how we can work together and agree practical details such as the day and time of sessions.  There will also be time to start exploring what you want to talk about.
