About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Counsellor working with adults, children and young people.

Alongside my counselling training and experience, I bring nearly 20 years of experience supporting people through distressing and life-altering circumstances within a demanding professional environment. I am calm, grounded and able to stay steady when things feel difficult. I understand how deeply difficult experiences can affect us.

I have spent time in the client chair myself. My own experience of therapy has been one of the most significant areas of personal growth in my life. It continues to keep me reflective, self-aware and honest in my work. This experience has also given me a deeper understanding of what it means to ask for help, be vulnerable and be truly seen.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some know exactly what they want to explore or change. Others may be in crisis, feel overwhelmed, stuck or unsettled or just know that something doesn't feel right. You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. You may arrive with a clear goal, a particular difficulty you want to work through or simply a sense that you want things to feel different.

Wherever you are starting from, we can work together to understand what you need from counselling and explore the changes that matter to you.

Practice description

As an Integrative Counsellor, I tailor therapy to you rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from CBT, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, choosing what feels most helpful for you and the work we are doing together. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship we build.

I work collaboratively and at your pace, with warmth, honesty and straight-talking compassion. I aim to create a space where you can be yourself without judgement and without needing to minimise or justify what you have experienced.

Alongside my work with adults, I am also qualified to work therapeutically with children and young people. I currently work in a primary school environment and with older children in a therapeutic setting, alongside my private practice. This has given me experience of working with children and young people at different stages of development and with a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties.

My private practice is based in Edenbridge, within easy reach of Oxted and East Grinstead. I offer face-to-face, online and telephone counselling. I also have access to an outdoor space, which can provide an alternative setting for sessions where this feels appropriate and helpful.

I am calm, grounded and able to stay steady when things feel difficult. I bring nearly 20 years of experience supporting people through distressing and life-altering circumstances within a demanding professional environment, alongside my counselling experience and training.

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) (M414922), working in accordance with their Ethical Framework.

If you are considering counselling, you are welcome to get in touch to see whether we feel like the right fit.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin to understand what has brought you to counselling. I will ask you about what you would like support with, what you hope to gain from counselling and anything that may be important for me to know in order to support you safely.

There will also be some practical information to go through, including confidentiality and how we will work together. This first session is also a chance for you to ask questions and consider whether you feel comfortable working with me.

You do not need to have everything worked out before we meet. We can take the time to explore what you need and think together about how counselling might help.
