About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Jo. I’m a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´).
I offer both face-to-face counselling and online sessions to provide flexibility and accessibility for my clients.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship issues, grief, low self-esteem, and illness.
Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I am also a practising Midwife and Specialist Bereavement Midwife. This dual background gives me a deep understanding of the emotional impact of women’s health, perinatal experiences, baby loss and pregnancy after loss. I have a particular interest in supporting clients through pregnancy-related issues, baby loss, infertility, IVF, birth trauma, menopause, and other life transitions.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw upon a range of therapeutic models to meet each person’s individual needs. I am especially interested in attachment and the ways our early relationships and experiences shape how we see ourselves and relate to others.
I offer a calm, compassionate, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you.
Practice description
To begin, please contact me by email with a short outline of what brings you to counselling. I will then offer a free initial consultation, by phone, so you can ask any questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.
I understand that beginning therapy can feel like a big step, both emotionally and financially. If you’re unsure about what might work best for you, I’m happy to discuss this during our initial consultation so we can find an approach that feels manageable and right for you.
If you decide that you'd like to continue with me, we’ll agree on a regular time each week for your sessions. This consistency helps create a sense of safety and continuity in the therapeutic process.
My practice offers both in-person and online options, depending on your needs and circumstances.
My first session
After our initial phone call and before your first session, I will send you a brief assessment form and a therapy agreement outlining key information about confidentiality, payment, and cancellations. These help us begin with clarity and transparency.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to explore in more depth what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. There’s no right or wrong place to begin, it is your space, and we will move together at your pace.
Some people come for short-term work focused on a specific issue, others for longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences. For some, it’s simply a space to see where the journey takes them. The process is unique to you, we’ll work in the way that feels right for you.
We’ll review your progress regularly to ensure our work remains focused and supportive of your goals.
