About me and my therapy practice

What if you could take counselling out of the therapy room and have it somewhere else? Maybe you could do your session whilst walking through a forest. What effect would being in nature have on your therapy? Can you imagine the sound of birds or running water from a stream? Would moving, the sounds and smells help to trigger thoughts and feelings?

What does your day look like? Are you anxious or lonely? Do you feel overwhelmed or flat? Is it difficult to put these things into words? Is it more of a feeling? Where do you feel it in your body? Is it in your chest? Maybe your jaw is tight or you clench your fists. Would it help to talk to someone who can help to untangle what is happening? Maybe you have tried ways of getting by and those things worked for a while. Are you ready to start giving yourself the attention you deserve?

Opening up to a stranger takes a lot of courage. It’s not easy to put trust in another person. Particularly someone you haven’t met before. The first step is a big one and should be taken with care. Counselling is a way of linking things up. It can help if your stuck and can’t find your way out of a rut. Maybe you need someone to talk to, and are worried about burdening the people around you.

Counselling is a space for you to get the time you need to work through whatever you’re struggling with. You will not get told to act in a particular way and will not have to put on a brave face. It’s somewhere that you can be completely you, in order to connect with the parts of you that need attending to.

The hardest part is reaching out. After that you will have someone beside you to help you along the way. A person who isn’t going to tell you what you should do, but will try to help you find your own answers. If you want to give it a go or have any questions please get in touch.

Practice description

I am currently working in private practice and as a voluntary counsellor for Cruse Scotland, offering bereavement support.

Some of the areas I have experience working with are:

  • anxiety
  • bereavement
  • mens mental health
  • relationship issues

My first session

Outdoor sessions take place in either Linn Park or Pollok Park in the south of Glasgow.

I offer a free twenty minute chat to discuss any questions you may have and to see if we would be a good fit to work together. To arrange this please get in touch.
