About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Mel and I'm an integrative counsellor as well as an experienced 'wellbeing in nature' practitioner, offering outdoor, face-to-face and online sessions. My approach is warm and compassionate, to help you make sense of what is troubling you.

How counselling can help

If you’re scrolling through this directory, it’s likely you are going through a difficult time and would like some help and support in working through any problems you may be experiencing.

Life is rarely straightforward and we are often faced with a number of challenges – whether that’s to do with current circumstances, living with the legacy of unresolved trauma and/or past experiences, or a combination of these.

Whilst we may feel able to cope most of the time with what life throws at us, sometimes it can be helpful to talk things through with a trusted listener, in a safe, non-judgemental space – and this is where I can come in.

My counselling approach

I can help support you through low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life stages and family issues.

As an integrative counsellor, my focus is you – I can draw on a number of different modalities of therapy and theories (which essentially means different approaches) to suit you, and I can also use creative tools to help you navigate through and make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings.

Above all, I have a flexible approach to my work – my priority is you and what works for you.

A little bit about me

I have worked as a therapist for a local counselling agency (2024-2025) seeing a wide range of clients with different presenting issues from diverse backgrounds.

I am of British and Spanish descent and spent my childhood years living abroad – experiences which have given me an appreciation of cultural differences, sensitivities and awareness.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors in nature, either walking or cycling, often in woodlands or on the downs, and spending time with family and friends.

Practice description

I am currently offering online sessions as well as outdoor therapy in the form of walk-and-talk, drawing on the power of nature to heal and reflect.

My outdoor therapy work is informed by my 10 years’ experience of working as a ‘wellbeing in nature’ practitioner, working with people who are living with a range of poor mental health conditions and supporting them to engage and connect to nature to improve their wellbeing. I have academic qualifications in natural sciences (BSc, MSc) and Forest School Leadership (Level 3) which help inform and shape my approach to outdoor work.

From April 2026 I will also be able to offer face-to-face sessions from a bespoke garden room.

I strongly believe that the most important aspect of counselling is the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client. As such I offer all prospective clients a free 30-minute consultation during which we can get to know each other, discuss your main issues and what you would like to gain from counselling, and see if we are a good fit for working together.

If you’re happy to proceed after this initial consultation, my sessions are 50 minutes at the agreed price, and for an agreed number of sessions which can be reviewed.

I offer a small number of concessionary rates for clients who are unemployed or on a low income.

I hold a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Wiltshire College. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Â鶹ԭ´´) and as such follow their ethical guidelines for my practice. I am fully insured and use regular supervision to ensure my practice is safe, ethical and meets the requirements of my clients.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
