About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist and Coach, offering a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly and feel heard. Choosing the right counsellor is an important step, and I believe that a trusting, authentic relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapeutic work.
As an Integrative Therapist, I draw on a range of approaches including Person-Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic, Compassion-Focused, Transactional Analysis, Existential and Creative Counselling. This flexibility allows me to adapt sessions to your individual needs and preferences. Alongside counselling, my coaching experience enables me to support you in looking forward, building confidence and making meaningful changes.
My practice focuses on three key areas:
Life transitions and expatriate support 鈥 I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating change, whether moving to a new country, adjusting to cultural differences, or managing the demands of supporting family while adapting personally. My background includes founding an expatriate group in Denmark, working as an Expatriate Coach in Moscow, and serving as President of a Newcomers鈥 Club in Canada.
Abusive and difficult relationships 鈥 Through my work with Women鈥檚 Aid, I have supported clients affected by domestic abuse, coercive control and emotional abuse. I also work with those rebuilding after separation from a narcissistic partner, including the challenges of co-parenting.
Grief and loss 鈥 Each person鈥檚 response to loss is unique. I provide a space where you can explore and process a wide range of emotions, while recognising that there is no simple 鈥榝ix鈥. Therapy can help you make sense of your experience and begin to find a way forward.
I am committed to helping clients navigate challenges with compassion and clarity, and to supporting positive, lasting change.
Practice description
I offer sessions both in person and online, or a mix of the two if that works best for you. My style is warm and approachable 鈥 I鈥檓 very much a 鈥渞eal person鈥 in the therapy room. I鈥檝e lived through challenges and made my share of mistakes, and this allows me to meet you with openness, honesty and without judgement.
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you and provide a safe space where we can explore your experiences together. As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on different approaches and techniques so that we can find what feels most helpful for you.
Therapy can sometimes feel challenging, especially if it touches on painful memories or emotions. But those moments often open the way to new understanding, healing and the possibility of real change. My aim is to help you make sense of what you are going through now, and to support you in moving forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I bring compassion, sensitivity and, where it feels right, a lightness and humour to our sessions. The relationship we build is at the heart of our work, and I am genuinely curious to understand what makes you you.
Most of all, I want you to feel supported, encouraged and hopeful 鈥 that whatever you are facing, change is possible, and you don鈥檛 have to face it alone.
My first session
We can start with a free 20-minute online meeting to get to know each other and see if working together feels right for you. If it does, we can arrange your first full session 鈥 either online or in person in Knutsford or Alderley Edge.
At the beginning, I鈥檒l share my 鈥榳ay of working鈥 document with you, and if it feels helpful we may also do an assessment to understand your needs more fully. From there, we鈥檒l decide together what pace suits you best 鈥 weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions, depending on your circumstances.
From our very first conversation, I focus on building a genuine relationship so you can feel comfortable, understood and confident in the confidentiality of our work. My aim is that you leave your first session feeling supported, cared for and truly welcomed.
