About me and my therapy practice
Overview
A very warm welcome to Nina May Counselling. I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor dedicated to supporting individuals facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. As a full-time wheelchair user myself, I feel I have a unique understanding of the experiences that come with being disabled, therefore I also strive to create a welcoming space for disabled clients to explore their identities and feelings.
How I work
I feel that every client’s therapeutic journey is personal and unique to them, which is why I adopt a non-directive approach in my practice. This means that you, as my client, will always be at the heart of our sessions. My goal is to provide a safe, open, and non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and emotions.
Practice description
Currently, I offer both telephone and a limited number of face- to- face counselling sessions, available on request, each lasting 50 minutes. To help you decide if my counselling services are right for you, after your initial email inquiry, I offer a complimentary 20 minute telephone introductory session. This will provide you with an opportunity to see if I am the right therapist for you, alongside also giving us time to discuss your needs in a supportive environment.
My first session
As part of my first session I will ensure that new clients have signed and understood my client contract which will have been sent over to you after our initial phone call, if we feel comfortable working together. You will receive this before commencement of our work together. In addition, as part of the first session, I may ask you a few questions to establish what kind of support you are looking for and what kinds of things you may find it helpful to work through. However, this initial assessment is not set in stone, and it does not mean that things can’t be changed as we work through our sessions.
