About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Lizzie, a qualified Integrative Counsellor with a special interest in supporting the wellbeing of neurodiverse clients and parent carers.

I decided to retrain as a counsellor as I am passionate about helping others, who like me, find it difficult to access support suited for them and their lives. I feel privileged to hear other’s experiences and be able to walk alongside them as a guide in counselling. The counselling relationship is unique, and I hope to offer a safe and comfortable space for each of my clients.

Having lived, and professional experience of supporting people navigating their or a loved one’s journey of neurodiversity, I understand the importance of making counselling accessible and tailored to the individuals experiences.

My therapeutic foundation is offered using a Person Centred Approach, fostering connection through a non-judgemental and compassionate therapeutic relationship. I believe that every client's experience is unique and by working with my clients, we can create a safe and warm space for you to explore and empower self discovery. I love to be creative in sessions and may offer the use of techniques to aid your self exploration, such as, using objects of reference, visuals or drawing.

Practice description

Carer's & Parent Carer's

Are you caring for a loved one? Do you feel carers fatigue or burnout? According to a survey conducted by Carer’s UK in 2016, It is estimated that 84% of carers feel more stressed, 78% feel more anxious, and 55% reported that they suffered from depression. Coming to counselling is an opportunity to access self-care and prioritise your own wellbeing. Counselling can help you to reconnect with yourself while caring for someone else. We can work together to build an environment where you feel safe to share your experiences whilst compassionate boundaries and exploring practical coping strategies.

Neurodiversity

Having lived and professional experience, including working with young people with additional needs, I have a passion for making counselling accessible to all. You may have been recently diagnosed or feel like you need therapeutic support during your exploration of what being neurodiverse means to you. I endeavour to create a space where you feel no judgement and are safe to explore at your own pace and in your own way. I can make considerations for your sensory needs, whether this be the way we interact, transitioning through the session or use of fidget toys etc. I believe that every client should feel comfortable and I hope to create that space where you feel empowered.

Young People

I offer counselling to all young people aged 12 or over. I have experience of supporting pupils in a secondary school who are on the pathway to, or have a confirmed diagnosis of neurodiversity.

My first session

At this time, I am offering online or telephone counselling to clients based in the UK. To discuss your counselling needs, please get in touch and we can arrange a free 15 minute consultation to explore your reasons for coming to counselling. Counselling is a place to be vulnerable and as a client you have autonomy over who the person you want to explore with. By completing a consultation, we can decide whether I am the best person to support you.

Your first session will compromise of an assessment where we explore your reasons for coming to counselling, your wellbeing and an agreement on how we will work together.

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are normally a weekly fixed session. Each session is £60.00 with discount offered to those in receipt of Disability Allowance, Carer’s Allowance or are a student (evidence of reward required).

To discuss your individual counselling needs, please get in touch to arrange a consultation.
