About me and my therapy practice

There are many reasons why you may have decided to come to therapy. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed by certain emotions, are feeling stuck or are repeating patterns of behaviour. You may want to discuss a specific issue, want support with a life event or feel you need to address deep-rooted issues.

Whatever brings you to therapy, I will provide you with a warm, supportive and, confidential space where you can take the time you need to explore what’s happening for you.

My approach is humanistic, mainly informed by existential therapy. This means that I am concerned with the issues that arise from being human – issues such as uncertainty, death, meaning and authenticity.

While I appreciate there are certain things in life that cannot be changed, with insight and self-compassion we can change how we respond to them. Working together, I can help you to make sense of your place in the world and how you relate to others. We can look at the expectations you feel have been placed upon you and what you can change to live in alignment with your values.

I work relationally, which means I believe the therapeutic relationship can help facilitate healing. How you and I relate will mirror how you relate to others, so by noticing these patterns, we can explore whether they continue to serve you and what you'd like to change or let go of.

It’s important that you can bring your whole self to therapy – even the parts you find difficult to accept. I will listen to you with empathy and without judgement to help you explore these parts so you can move towards self-acceptance.

By working together, I will help you tap into your inner strength, resilience, and resources to reduce distress and help you move towards a more meaningful future.

My approach is suited to working with a range of issues, including bereavement and loss, illness, transitions (such as midlife), difficult relationships, anxiety, depression and low mood, self-confidence and self-esteem, life purpose, meaning and identity.

Practice description

How I work

I offer in person sessions in central Tunbridge Wells. I also offer online therapy via Teams.

Sessions are 50 minutes and will take place on a weekly basis at the same day and time.

We can work on a short-term basis of 12 weeks, which is ideally suited to those wishing to work on a specific issue or goal, or we can work longer-term with an open-ended agreement. It's up to you.

Training & experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy and am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´).

My first session

Deciding to go to therapy can be a big step. So, it’s important the therapist you choose is the right fit for you, because you will be sharing a lot of information about yourself – in some cases, you might be discussing things you’ve never told anyone before.

To help you decide whether I'm a good fit, I suggest we meet for an initial 50 minute session. During this session, I will undertake a brief assessment. It also gives you a chance to tell me what brings you to therapy, with the understanding that you may not feel ready to share everything yet. You can also ask me questions about how I work.

Together we can decide whether what I offer is suitable for you – although there’s no rush, I appreciate you might need time to think it through. While there's no obligation to go ahead, if it feels right, we can discuss arranging your next session.

The initial session will be charged at a rate of £35.00. Subsequent sessions will be charged at £70 per hour.
