About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am Lucia. I am an integrative counsellor and I work with children, teens, young people and adults.

I offer a gentle and steady space where you can talk openly and feel supported. Many people come to me when they feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or unsure where to turn. Others come because they want to understand themselves better or make sense of things that have stayed with them for a long time.

With children and young people I use a mix of talking and creative methods. This can include drawing, sand tray and play based work. These approaches help children show what they feel in a way that feels safe and natural. I support children and young people with many different challenges such as anxiety, confidence, anger, finding it hard to manage feelings, school stress, friendship issues, grief and changes within the family.

With adults I offer a calm space where you can slow down and look at whatever is troubling you. This might include anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, relationship concerns, childhood experiences, family pressures, identity questions or difficulties linked to diagnoses. We talk together about what you need and we move at a pace that feels right for you.

I use an integrative approach which means I bring together different approaches depending on what suits you. I am trauma informed and I draw on person centred and humanistic ways of working. I also use CBT tools when they are helpful. My understanding of attachment, child development and the brain helps me make sense of how past and present experiences shape how you feel. What matters most is the relationship we build and the trust that grows between us.

I have an MSc in Psychology and a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have worked in schools, charities, crisis services and private practice. I have supported children, teens and adults with many different challenges and I aim to offer a warm, grounded and supportive place for you or your child to feel heard.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face counselling in a private, quiet and welcoming room at The Village Surgery in Cramlington. It is a safe, confidential space where clients of all ages can feel heard, respected and supported.

I work with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, low confidence, low mood, trauma, grief, childhood issues, parenting challenges, as well as relationship and family difficulties.

For children and young people, therapy often involves creative approaches such as play, art or other activities that feel natural and engaging. With teenagers, I blend these creative methods with talking therapy to support reflection and help make sense of experiences in a way that feels manageable. For adults, therapy focuses on exploring experiences, building resilience and developing practical strategies to support wellbeing.

Sessions are usually weekly and can be short or long term depending on what feels most helpful.

Therapy is not just about managing symptoms. It is about supporting lasting change through understanding, self-acceptance and personal growth.

My first session

Before we begin, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and decide whether it feels like the right fit.

When working with children and young people, I usually begin with a session for parents or carers only, where possible. This gives us the chance to explore the child’s needs, talk through relevant background and think together about how best to support them. All following sessions are one-to-one with the child or young person, giving them a safe and private space of their own. Where appropriate, I can offer review sessions with parents to reflect on progress and consider next steps together.

For adults, the first session is a chance to begin exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping for. I will ask some gentle questions to help us understand your goals and how we might work together.

If you or your child have any specific needs or preferences, I welcome you to share them. Therapy should feel accessible, inclusive and shaped around what helps you feel at ease.
