About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 an integrative, creative counsellor and psychotherapist offering a warm, steady and down-to-earth space for you to explore whatever feels difficult, confusing or overwhelming. My approach is grounded in relationship, because meaningful change often happens when we are met with genuine presence, curiosity and acceptance. I show up as myself 鈥 human, real and without jargon 鈥 so you can feel safe to do the same.

I work integratively, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, Jungian and existential ideas. This allows the work to be shaped around your needs rather than fitting you into one model. For some people, this involves exploring early experiences, patterns and relationships; for others, it means understanding identity, anxiety, low mood, stress, or parts of themselves that feel lost, hidden or unheard. I believe therapy should move at your pace, with space to pause, reflect, feel and gently make sense of what鈥檚 going on beneath the surface.

I offer room-based counselling, online sessions, and outdoor nature-based therapy for anyone who finds it easier to talk while being outside. Many people find that movement, fresh air, and the natural world help them feel calmer and less pressured, creating a softer environment for emotional work. My wellbeing sessions and courses through Mussenden Wellbeeing offer additional ways to reconnect through nature, creativity and gentle grounding practices.

My background includes training in developmental psychology and in supporting people experiencing self-harm, behaviours that challenge, anxiety and low mood. Whatever you bring, you will be met without judgement and with a commitment to supporting you in finding clarity, steadiness and strength. Therapy is not about 鈥渇ixing鈥 you 鈥 it鈥檚 about understanding, reconnecting and finding ways forward that feel right for you.

If you would like to talk about starting therapy, or check my current availability, you鈥檙e welcome to get in touch. You don鈥檛 have to navigate things alone.

Practice description

My practice is grounded in the belief that people heal best when they feel safe, welcomed, and met as themselves. I offer a calm, steady and genuine therapeutic environment where you can speak openly, slow down, breathe, and take time to understand what you鈥檙e going through.

My indoor therapy room is comfortable, warm and private, designed to feel relaxed rather than clinical. The space is gentle, homely and calm, with soft lighting and grounding natural elements to help you settle. Many clients describe it as a place where they can finally 鈥渆xhale鈥 and let their shoulders drop.

Alongside room-based sessions, I also offer outdoor and nature-based therapy through Mussenden Wellbeeing. The garden is a peaceful, green space surrounded by trees, birdsong and the quiet hum of bees from my hives. It is a place held by nature rather than walls, offering a slower pace and a sense of openness that many people find soothing and easier to talk within.

There are areas shaded by trees, places to sit, gentle pathways to walk, and a fish pond that brings a calming focus point for grounding and reflection. For some clients, being outdoors helps reduce the intensity of sitting face-to-face, making the work feel more natural and less pressured. The garden offers sensory grounding through the sounds of birds, the movement of branches, the smell of the air, and the presence of the natural world.

Whether indoors or outdoors, my practice is built on compassion, honesty and acceptance. I work at your pace, offering space for deeper exploration when you want it, and steadiness when things feel overwhelming. My aim is to offer a consistent, supportive environment where you can reconnect with yourself, understand what you need, and move forward in ways that feel right for you.

If you鈥檇 like to know more about the space, my approach, or how the outdoor sessions work, you鈥檙e welcome to get in touch.

My first session

Your first session is a gentle opportunity for us to get to know each other and to explore what brings you to therapy. There is no pressure and no expectation to share everything at once. Instead, we take our time to talk about what you need, what you鈥檙e hoping for, and how therapy might best support you.

We look together at the different ways we can work 鈥 whether that鈥檚 room-based counselling, outdoor walk-and-talk sessions, nature-based work in the Mussenden Wellbeeing garden, or online therapy. The first session is about finding a way of working that feels comfortable, safe and right for you.

I will explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and talk through the practicalities such as confidentiality, session structure and what you can expect from me. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels okay. Many people simply use the first session to 鈥渟ettle in鈥 and get a feel for whether we are the right fit to work together.

There is no formal assessment unless you wish to complete one. If you prefer a more conversational, guided beginning, we can take that approach. If you find structure helpful, we can explore your history, current concerns and goals in a gentle, steady way.

The first session is also a space for you to notice how you feel with me. Therapy works best when the relationship feels safe and supportive, so this time is for you to ask questions, express any worries about starting therapy, and get a sense of what it would be like to continue.

If at the end of the session you feel that working together is a good match, we can arrange further appointments. If you need time to think, that鈥檚 completely okay too.
