About me and my therapy practice
Most of what drives us sits just out of sight.
You might feel it as anxiety that comes out of nowhere, patterns in relationships you can鈥檛 quite shift, or a persistent sense that something isn鈥檛 right, even when life looks fine on the surface.
This is where I work.
I鈥檓 a psychodynamic counsellor. We don鈥檛 just focus on symptoms or quick fixes. We pay attention to what鈥檚 underneath. The patterns, defences, and early experiences that continue to shape how you think, feel, and relate.
Our sessions won鈥檛 be about advice or being told what to do. They will be a space to think, notice, and, at times, be challenged. We might sit with things that don鈥檛 have immediate answers. That can feel uncomfortable, but it鈥檚 often where something real begins to shift.
The relationship between us matters. Not in a casual or friendly way, but as a focused, professional space where something honest can emerge. It鈥檚 often within this relationship that old patterns begin to show themselves, and, importantly, to change.
This kind of work isn鈥檛 always easy. But if you鈥檙e willing to be curious about yourself, even the parts you鈥檇 usually avoid, it can be deeply transformative.
You don鈥檛 need to arrive with a clear explanation of what鈥檚 wrong. A sense that something needs attention is enough to begin.
Practice description
I鈥檓 a psychodynamic counsellor working with adults (18+), both online and in person. I鈥檝e worked across community settings and private practice with individuals and couples.
I don鈥檛 offer fixes, hacks, or neat solutions.
I鈥檓 interested in what鈥檚 really going on. The patterns you keep repeating, the reactions that don鈥檛 quite make sense, the parts of yourself you avoid or can鈥檛 reach. That鈥檚 where change starts.
This work is slower, deeper, and at times uncomfortable. But it鈥檚 also where things begin to shift in a way that lasts. You won鈥檛 be given advice or a script to follow. Instead, we鈥檒l think together. Properly. Honestly. With novelty.
Therapy with me is a space to be met, challenged, and understood, not managed.
If you鈥檙e looking for something surface-level, I鈥檓 probably not the right fit. But if you鈥檙e willing to get curious about yourself, even the uncomfortable parts, then this work can be powerful.
A question to consider before reaching out:
Are you ready to look at the part you usually avoid?
I work with depression, PTSD, anxiety, grief, trauma, identity questions, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, disordered eating, and body image.
I also work with couples. Not to 鈥渇ix鈥 one another, but to understand the patterns you鈥檝e co-created, and decide what you want to do with them. Whether you鈥檙e in crisis or just stuck in the same loop, therapy offers a space to slow things down, speak more honestly, and hear each other differently.
Sometimes what鈥檚 missing in a relationship isn鈥檛 love 鈥 it鈥檚 understanding.
That鈥檚 what we work towards.
My first session
I offer an introductory consultation as the first step in beginning therapy. We can conduct this via telephone or online. This is a chance for us to meet, talk about what brings you to therapy, and for you to ask any questions about how I work. It鈥檚 an opportunity to get a feel for the process and begin thinking together about what you might need. The duration of this is 50 minutes.
Choosing the right therapist is an important part of starting therapy. This first meeting gives us both a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. If we decide to go ahead, we will agree to work together for a short period, typically three sessions, before reviewing how it feels from both sides. This process forms a broader view of your experience and background, allowing for a deeper understanding of you, which I term an initial consultation. This allows time for the relationship to begin to form and for you to get a better sense of whether this is the right space for you.
The introductory consultation is charged at 拢35, payable by BACS within 24 hours of the session. Ongoing sessions are 拢65 each, and if we choose to continue after the initial few weeks, we will commit to a regular day and time to meet weekly for the duration of your therapy.
