About me and my therapy practice

Why Choose Counselling?

There’s no shortage of advice, books, podcasts, blogs, even ChatGPT.  So why invest in counselling?

Because counselling isn’t just about advice. It’s about relationship.

When you meet with a counsellor, face to face, online or by phone,  you enter a safe, attuned space where another human being is fully present with you. That presence matters ,it helps your nervous system feel seen, understood, and regulated.

This is called co-regulation - the process by which we find balance through connection. Counselling recreates that same experience intentionally, offering emotional safety - the freedom to bring your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Safety also means consistency: a predictable, confidential space with someone trained to hold what you bring. Over time, this support allows you to explore even the tender or challenging parts of your experience.

Advice can help you think. Counselling helps you feel, heal, and grow.

You might be navigating grief, relationship challenges, identity questions, low self-esteem, or a more general feeling that something isn’t quite right. Whatever you’re carrying, it matters, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

Practice description

I’m a fully qualified trauma-informed, person-centred counsellor based in the UK. My approach is rooted in empathy, care, and respect, offering a safe, supportive space where you set the pace. Many people I work with carry the quiet weight of adverse childhood experiences, times when they felt unseen, unheard, or unsafe. Together, we can gently explore how those experiences still shape your life today and begin to loosen their hold.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in community arts and volunteer coordination, supporting people from diverse backgrounds, including those with learning disabilities or experiencing social isolation. I focused on helping people express themselves, reclaim their sense of empowerment, and be seen and heard. These experiences shaped my belief that everyone’s voice and story deserve to be valued.

I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and value diversity in all its forms. Counselling isn’t about quick fixes, it’s a deeply human process of being seen, heard, and supported. My role is to walk alongside you, with steadiness and care, as you move toward greater freedom and self-understanding.

My first session

I offer a free introductory phone call, so we can talk about your needs and expectations from counselling and see if we are a good fit.

My approach is person-centred, which means I won’t analyse or fix you, I’ll walk beside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and needs. You’re the expert on your own life. My role is to support you in reconnecting with your inner strength and self-understanding.

About me and my therapy practice

You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or simply unsure where you’re heading, counselling can offer a space to make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward. You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. Just having a regular time to talk and reflect with someone who truly listens can bring clarity and relief.

My approach is person-centred, which means I won’t analyse or fix you, I’ll walk beside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and needs. You’re the expert on your own life. My role is to support you in reconnecting with your inner strength and self-understanding.

You might be navigating grief, relationship challenges, identity questions, low self-esteem, or a more general feeling that something isn’t quite right. Whatever you’re carrying, it matters, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

Practice description

Counselling is a deeply human process. It’s not about quick fixes, it’s about being seen, heard, and supported as you grow in understanding of yourself. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where your story is safe.

We may explore the wider context of your life,  your relationships, culture, background, because these shape how you experience the world and yourself. We may also draw on creativity through metaphor or imagination, or simply explore new ways to express what you’re feeling. I believe creative exploration can open powerful pathways to healing.

My person-centred approach means you lead the pace and focus of our sessions. I won’t tell you what to do, give advice, or ask you to do anything you don’t feel ready for. I bring empathy, care, and respect to our work together.

I hold a strong commitment to social justice. I understand how societal systems can marginalise people who don’t fit the mould. Some carry heavier burdens than others, and I respect the courage it takes to bring those burdens into the therapy space.

I honour and welcome difference, whether cultural, social, emotional, physical, or gender-based. I’m LGBTQ+ affirmative and committed to working with openness and humility. I continually learn from my clients and adapt my approach to meet your specific needs.

My first session

I am based in West Cornwall, offering 2 options of face-to-face sessions in a calm, confidential setting in the centre of Truro, or in a tranquil setting in the Helston area.

If you prefer the comfort and privacy of your own home, I also offer sessions via video call or telephone, whatever feels most accessible and supportive for you.

Each session lasts 55 minutes and is priced at £50. I offer a 15 minute introductory phone call, which gives us a chance to explore your needs and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

I also offer a 20% discount for counselling students studying for a level 4 or 5 diploma.
