About me and my therapy practice

Difficult times can feel like a lonely dark place. You may feel numb & withdrawn, not even knowing what's wrong. When you're uncertain where to turn, finding support is a big first step. I'll provide relief, so you can start to function better again.

How can I help:

Has life become too much for you, maybe a number of issues have combined leaving you constantly upset - on the edge. Or has there been a major occurrence that has devastated you - a relationship ending, a job eating you away, a bereavement.

Leaving you stuck with a feeling of hopelessness - unable to cope or function ‘normally.’ Perhaps you are experiencing a lack of sleep, disagreements, anger, constantly crying. Possibly you've turned to alcohol and/or drugs, and you may even be having self harming thoughts.

I will provide a peaceful place to explore your uncomfortable thoughts - feelings released and truly heard and understood. When you may have lost all trust, I will be able to connect with you - providing solace and relief.

Through compassionate and insightful support you will begin to feel stronger, sleep better, free from constant worry and anxiety. Life will become less confusing, you’ll be less self critical, beginning to feel calmer and more confident again.

With this healing comes growth. You will be able to make those difficult decisions for the changes you truly desire - moving forwards into a healthier, happier and more enjoyable fulfilled life.

I practice online and face to face in Haringey, North London, Enfield and Bedford - as well as in people’s own homes if they choose. The counselling rooms are lovely places in central Enfield, Haringey, near Turnpike Lan station and Bedford..

I offer a free initial conversation where we can talk openly without any pressure - this can be booked through my website too: https://www.selfacceptance.co.uk/contact

Practice description

Supporting people has always been a passion - for nearly 30 years, I channelled this into teaching - specialising in special needs and sociology in secondary schools. I loved the work, but over time, what once fulfilled me became oppressive. I felt trapped and overwhelmed by the very thing I'd once loved.

Through my own counselling, I experienced something transformative: closing one door really does open another. I discovered person-centred therapy and knew immediately this was my path forward. I went on to achieve a foundation degree in person-centred counselling, and everything made more sense.

That experience - of feeling stuck, seeking support, and finding a way through - now shapes everything about how I work. I've learned that our lowest moments often propel us toward paths we never imagined possible.

My approach is rooted in the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. As a person-centred therapist, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, with empathy and respect.

I’ve worked with adults and young people across a range of settings, including colleges, charities and community services; supporting clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-worth, grief, addictions, and difficulties with neurodiversity.

Starting therapy takes courage, and it's okay to feel uncertain. You don't have to have everything figured out - just a sense that something needs to change.

I believe passionately that with deeper self-knowledge and self-acceptance, we can all face a brighter future. If you're ready to explore yours, I'd be honoured to help and walk alongside you.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, happy to work with young people and adults and those with neurodiversity such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia.

I am always happy to answer any questions about how we’d work together or what to expect from therapy.

My first session

Our initial meeting is a relaxed conversation about what's brought you here and what you'd like to explore.

Share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We'll discuss your hopes for therapy with no pressure or expectations - just a supportive space to help you decide if this feels right.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, we’ll go at your pace, in a way that feels supportive and meaningful to you. This could involve gently exploring your past, focusing on the present, or finding ways to manage difficult emotions day-to-day.

I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, tailored to what works best for you.
