About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Vicki. My private practice offers short and long-term counselling to adults. My approach is grounded in my personality, blending warmth, authenticity, and a deep curiosity about your experiences.
As a qualified, Â鶹Դ´ registered counsellor with a Masters (MSc) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore thoughts and feelings.
I was drawn to counselling after a 25 year career in Birmingham-based mental health charities that focus on maternal wellbeing and support for disadvantaged women. I continue to work in the field, alongside offering therapy at a hospice, a bereavement service, and a City Centre counselling practice.
I bring a breadth of experience along with a heartfelt understanding of what it means to navigate meaningful life changes.
Whether you're looking to explore things more deeply over time or want help with something specific in the here-and-now, I’ll work with you to find an approach that feels right. You might already have a sense of what you need, or you might not be sure yet — either way, we’ll figure it out together. My role is to support you in using your own strengths and resources to move forward in a way that feels meaningful to you and together we will cultivate a safe space for you to be curious about the past, the present and hold hope for the future.
Practice description
I offer a down-to-earth, compassionate approach. We’ll work at your pace, no pressure, no judgment, just real conversations that help you find your way back to you.
I support clients with a wide range of issues, including: relationship difficulties, stress, bereavement, anxiety, chronic illness and living with long term conditions, family estrangement, depression, maternal mental health, parenting issues, and complex trauma. I always strive for inclusive, anti-oppressive practice.
As an integrative therapist, my approach is tailored to your individual needs and circumstances . I believe therapy starts with building a trusting, supportive relationship. I’ll take time to understand what’s going on for you. I know from experience that first steps can feel daunting — so I aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.
Sessions usually last 50 minutes and cost £55. Some concessionary spaces are available; ask for details.
If you are interested in working together, please get in touch and we can arrange a free 15-minute introductory phone or video call. I try to respond to enquiries within two working days. If you haven't heard back from me by then, please check your junk mail.
My first session
In our first session, we'll gently explore what's bringing you to therapy and what life looks like for you right now. It’s a chance for us both to get a feel for whether working together feels like a good fit. You’re welcome to ask me anything about how I work — I’ll do my best to answer honestly and clearly.
By the end of the session, you can decide whether you'd like to continue. If you do, we’ll agree on an initial time frame and check in regularly to see how things are going. You might already have some goals in mind, or you might prefer to see how things unfold — either way is absolutely fine.
And if you decide not to continue, that’s completely okay too. Finding the right support is important, and sometimes that means exploring a few options first.
