About me and my therapy practice
About Me and My Therapy Practice
Hello, I’m Jean Thompson, founder of Wings4Doves Counselling, an integrative and holistic therapy practice based in East Dulwich. My approach centres on supporting the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—with warmth, creativity, and evidence-based techniques tailored just for you.
I am a Â鶹Դ´-accredited counsellor with over 15 years of experience working compassionately with individuals, children, and families facing life’s challenges. I blend traditional talk therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness practices to create a safe, nurturing space where you can explore your emotions, heal from trauma, and grow into your authentic self.
Each client is unique, so I adapt my sessions to meet your individual needs, whether through one-on-one counselling, group therapy, creative workshops, or play therapy for children. My work is grounded in empathy and respect for your cultural background, identity, and personal journey.
I believe healing is a collaborative journey and am committed to walking alongside you with care, confidentiality, and non-judgmental support. Together, we can build resilience, manage anxiety or grief, improve relationships, and foster lasting well-being.
Sessions are available both online and in person. Flexible scheduling, including late evenings by request, means therapy can fit your life commitments.
If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, please get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation to discuss how I can support you best.
Practice description
At Wings4Doves Counselling, I offer a safe, non-judgmental haven where individuals of all ages can explore their thoughts and feelings, heal from life’s challenges, and discover new paths forward. My practice is rooted in the heart of East Dulwich and led with empathy, compassion, and over 15 years’ experience supporting adults, children, and families from diverse backgrounds.
You can expect a warm, collaborative approach, focused not just on ‘symptoms’ but on you as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Using integrative methods, I blend traditional talking therapies with creative techniques like art therapy, mindfulness, and play. This combination allows you to express yourself in the ways that feel most natural and healing.
Therapy at Wings4Doves is always tailored to your unique needs, pace, and cultural identity. Whatever brings you here—anxiety, grief, relationships, trauma, or simply a wish for self-discovery—you will be met with respect, confidentiality, and deep care.
We offer:
• Individual counselling for adults and young people
• Creative and play-based therapy for children
• Group sessions and workshops for connection and growth
• Both online and in-person appointments for your convenience
Flexible scheduling makes it easier to prioritise your wellbeing, even with a busy life. As part of my commitment to community, I also offer some evening slots and concessionary rates where possible.

My first session
Your first session at Wings4Doves Counselling is an important step in your healing journey. It is designed to be a welcoming and supportive introduction that sets the foundation for our work together.
During this initial session, we will take time to get to know each other in a safe, confidential space. I will ask you to share what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. We will also discuss your background, current challenges, and personal strengths to help tailor therapy to your unique needs.
To help structure our work, you will be invited to complete a brief assessment form before or during this session. This provides useful information about your emotional health and helps us set clear goals together.
For this first session, I offer a slightly reduced rate of £55 (compared to regular individual sessions at £70) to encourage you to take that first step with ease.
We will also go over practical details—such as session frequency, confidentiality, cancellation policies, and any questions you may have about how therapy works—so you can feel fully informed and comfortable.
The first session is not about solving everything at once. Instead, it is a chance to start building trust, understand your situation, and decide if my approach feels like the right fit for you.
If you choose to continue, subsequent sessions will be personalised around your goals and can include a blend of talk therapy, creative approaches, mindfulness, and more.
Whether you are new to therapy or have had support before, I am here to welcome you with compassion, respect, and a commitment to your well-being.
Let me know if you would like it more concise, more formal, or with additional details!
