About me and my therapy practice
Counsellor.
Adolescents, Young Adults & Adults.
I have been providing counselling services for several years, working across a range of settings to support the mental health and wellbeing of adolescents, young adults and adults.
My counselling experience includes working for Place2Be, the UK’s leading provider of school-based mental health counselling support, Your Space Therapies – a Sussex based provider of therapeutic support in schools and a Brighton-based charity supporting adults in crisis. I also work in private practice.
Before training as a counsellor, I spent 20 years in senior corporate roles. This experience has given me valuable insight into the pressures and challenges individuals face in both their personal and professional lives.
Practice description
My approach to counselling is straightforward and uncomplicated. I provide a safe, calm and non-judgemental environment for people to talk about any difficulties, issues or challenges they are dealing with – working at the client’s pace, no rush, no pressure.
Being an integrative counsellor means that I use elements from various therapeutic approaches so I can adapt sessions to best support the needs, personality and issues of each individual client. For some clients – adolescents in particular – that may involve using creative techniques or visual tools.
An integrative approach encourages conversations around thoughts, emotions, the past and present. Clients are free to talk about whatever matters most to them or is on their mind and without restriction.
I welcome and work with people of all ages, backgrounds, identities and genders and have experience of supporting neurodiverse individuals with ADHD and autism.
My first session
I offer a free first session to see if working together feels like a good fit. This session is arranged following a brief telephone consultation.
For adolescent clients, this first session will also include time with the referring parent(s) or carer(s). This helps to establish expectations, build a shared understanding and agree on the best way to move forward
