About me and my therapy practice
The foundation of my work is the Person-Centred Approach (PCT), established by Carl Rogers. I believe you are the expert on your own life, possessing an inherent drive towards growth and self-actualisation and is based on three core conditions:
​Unconditional Positive Regard: I offer you complete acceptance and support, regardless of what you share or the challenges you face. You don't have to fear judgment or disapproval.
​Empathy: I strive to understand your world and your experiences deeply, as if I were you, and communicate that understanding back to you so you truly feel heard.
​Congruence (Genuineness): I commit to being authentic and transparent in our relationship, offering a real human connection built on honesty and trust.
​The Integrative Process: Tailoring Therapy to You
​Once our relationship is established and we have a clear understanding of your needs, I may integrate specific tools and techniques from other approaches:
​When addressing unhelpful thought patterns, difficult behaviours, or a need for practical coping strategies, I may integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and modify the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions.
​When exploring the origins of current difficulties, relationship patterns, or deeper emotional wounds, I may introduce Psychodynamic concepts to illuminate how past experiences and unconscious processes are impacting your present life and relationships.
​When working to increase awareness and self-acceptance, I may use concepts from Gestalt therapy to focus on what you are experiencing in the 'here and now' emotionally, mentally, and physically.
​This approach ensures that we work at the depth and pace that feels right for you, providing both the deep, relational healing of PCT and the targeted interventions needed to manage specific symptoms or achieve your personal goals.
