My first session
🌱 What to Expect in Your First Counselling Session
In your first session with a Person-Centred Therapist, the focus is on creating a safe, welcoming environment where you can begin to explore what has brought you to counselling. You’ll have the chance to talk through your hopes, concerns, and any difficulties you’re facing at your own pace. Together we will complete a Mental Wellbeing Score (such as the PHQ-9 or Core 10) to help understand where you are emotionally and to track your progress over time. You’ll also review and agree on a Counselling Agreement — a simple document that outlines confidentiality, session length, boundaries, and what you can expect from your therapist. This session is about building trust, helping you feel heard, and laying the foundations for your personal growth and healing journey.
