About me and my therapy practice
Life brings seasons that can feel heavy to carry alone - grief, infertility, anxiety, health challenges, and difficult transitions. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can be seen, heard, and understood without judgment.
Welcome I’m Sorayya, a qualified counsellor (MÂ鶹Դ´) offering therapy for adults and couples experiencing infertility, grief, anxiety, and life transitions. I provide a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your emotions and find support.
My approach
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I adapt therapy to your needs. At the core of my practice is a person-centred ethos - I believe you are the expert in your life, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy and care. Depending on what feels right, I may use Compassion-Focused Therapy, CBT, or Attachment Theory.
With a background in the non-profit sector, as well as Education and social enterprise across Yorkshire. I carry a deep understanding of diverse communities and the barriers many face in accessing emotional support.
I have worked with Marie Curie, The Cellar Trust, and Cruse Bereavement Support, where I continue as a volunteer counsellor. My practice is grounded in professional ethics, regular supervision, and ongoing training.
I also offer culturally and faith-informed counselling, recognising how identity, culture, and spirituality can shape our experiences of emotional pain and healing. Sessions are available in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Potwari.
Areas of interest
Infertility, pregnancy loss, and fertility-related challenges
Bereavement and grief
Anxiety, stress, and inner distress
Long-term health conditions and hormonal transitions
Practice description
I work relationally, which means that I view the therapeutic relationship as a fundamental factor that makes therapy meaningful and successful. I work at your pace and provide a nurturing, safe space where you can be genuinely heard and understood.
My first session
It's really important to find a counsellor who meets your needs and you feel that you can share your experiences in a nurturing environment. I offer a 15-minute free telephone chat during which you can ask any questions you may have.
If you decide to go ahead after our initial telephone call, we can book our first session. In the first session, we will discuss what you want to achieve from therapy and agree on how we can work together.
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my profile, and please have a browse of my website. I know how daunting the first step can be.
