About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified Person-Centered counsellor working in the Southport area.  My empathic abilities and desire to help others who are suffering are what led me to this profession.

As humans, our environments play an important role in our ability to grow.  Person-Centered counselling is about providing you with the appropriate conditions to grow via a therapeutic relationship.  I offer an empathic, non-judgmental, safe space for you to explore your feelings.

Life can be challenging at times and this can push us to reflect and take a deep hard look at our lives.  Which in turn, can become a catalyst for us to make changes, which can be scary.  As humans, our natural tendency can be to deny or distort.

I believe our life experiences can have an invisible hold on us until we bring them in to the light of consciousness and make the informed choice to integrate the experience and wisdom.  This can help alleviate anxiety and depression.

In my experience, therapy does help, but things may feel like they are getting worse before they get better.  This can produce feelings of turmoil, fear, confusion and difficulty when attempting to make changes.  My intention, is to create the right conditions so you can grow and reach your full potential and become your true self.

Practice description

I offer Person-Centered therapy.  Each session will last for 60 minutes and can be held weekly or fortnightly.  You decide how many session and when you wish to end the course of therapy.

The driving force behind Person-Centered therapy is the therapeutic relationship which will assist you in self-knowledge, developing personal resources, emotional acceptance and growth.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space and will treat you as a person in your own right.  This helps you understand your needs and work towards fulfilling them.  This can lead to increased self-acceptance, growth and improved self-confidence.

You lead each session, as you're the expert on you.

We work at a pace that suits you, as making constructive change takes strength and courage.

There may be times when you go back and forth in making decisions, this is expected.  It can be frightening and overwhelming.  I'm here to help you to feel and explore the feelings you maybe experiencing without offering advice.

I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I undergo regular supervision as part of my counselling practice.

So, the question is ... Are you ready to embark on the inner journey of self-discovery to become your authentic self and uncover your deepest desires?
