About me and my therapy practice

Person-Centred Experiential Counselling (PCE) serves as the foundation of my therapeutic approach, being an evidence-based and clinically proven modality. Whether working in a hospital ward, a therapy room, or through virtual platforms, I approach my practice with a dedication to holding space for individuals with genuine care and presence.

I offer a unique combination of integrated real-world experience, co-creative problem-solving, a steadfast dedication to fostering empathetic and authentic connections, and advanced academic qualifications, including a Master’s degree supported by my own empirical research.

My journey into healthcare began later in life, following a rich and varied career in the creative and tech industries. Before retraining, I worked as a sound engineer at the legendary Mayfair Recording Studios, collaborating with world-renowned artists and producers. From there, I co-founded a web development company and joined the VFX team for Kasabian’s 2012 live tour, a project that culminated in visuals being broadcast during their Glastonbury Pyramid Stage performance in 2014. I also spent a decade at World News Network, where I was part of the development team, helping to build and maintain global news platforms.

Eventually, my path shifted toward a more human-centred profession. I moved into healthcare and haven’t looked back. I have experience working as a Senior Healthcare Assistant and later as a Senior Psychosocial Therapist in acute psychiatric inpatient hospitals and specialist eating disorder units. I have also worked as a Registered Adult Nurse in palliative care, a role that became even more intense and meaningful as I supported patients and families through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I have spent years in addiction services, supporting recovery with compassion, insight, and respect for human resilience, shaping my understanding of suffering, relationships, and the healing power of presence.

Practice description

As a psychotherapeutic counsellor trained in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling, I work with clients in a way that is deeply relational, compassionate, and attuned to their emotional experiencing.

This approach is grounded in the values of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence, while also incorporating focused methods to help clients engage more deeply with their emotional world. It’s a NICE-recommended treatment for psychological distress, and it is rooted in the belief that people have an innate capacity for growth and healing, given the right relational conditions.

In my practice, this means I offer a space where clients can explore and make sense of their feelings at a deeper, more embodied level. I help clients connect with the parts of themselves that may feel stuck, conflicted, or unheard, not by directing or diagnosing, but by walking alongside them in their experience. Through this emotionally-focused work, clients often begin to access new meanings, self-understanding, and shifts in how they relate to themselves and others.

What I love about this modality is its ability to hold complexity: it’s person-centred at its core, yet active and responsive to the client’s moment-to-moment process. It honours each person’s unique emotional landscape and trusts that meaningful change emerges through a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship.

One of the key elements of this approach is Focusing. Focusing invites clients to gently attend to their internal, bodily felt sense of a situation, not just talking about feelings, but sensing into them, allowing something more to emerge. It’s about slowing down, listening inwardly, and finding words, images, or metaphors that capture complex, often unclear emotional experiences.
