About me and my therapy practice
I’m Ros Day, a Â鶹Դ´ registered integrative counsellor offering a calm, grounded and compassionate space to explore what’s going on for you. I work collaboratively, adapting my approach to suit your individual needs, drawing on person-centred, CBT psychodynamic and solution-focused therapies. I am also an accredited EFT practitioner.
At the heart of my work is the belief that being heard and understood can be transformative. I aim to build a safe, supportive relationship where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences, and begin to move forward at your own pace. I won’t rush or direct you, but gently support you to gain clarity, develop self-awareness and reconnect with your own inner resources.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 25 years working in emotionally complex environments, including the Diplomatic Service, women’s prisons, schools, and listening services. Alongside my professional experience, I bring personal understanding of life transitions such as career change, relocation and retraining later in life. I was fortunate enough to be recognised for my work helping people in distress by being awarded the MBE for my work in 2014. I am a strong believer in in continual professional development and was successful in obtaining my Masters in Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing in 2025 which I must admit tested my resilience and brain cells! In my spare time I volunteer as a mentor for my local care trust, play tennis, golf and have recently completed the couch to 5K!
- I have a particular interest in supporting people through periods of change—whether that’s retirement, identity shifts, burnout, anxiety, grief or feeling stuck. My approach is warm, honest and non-judgemental, with a focus on helping you feel more grounded, resilient and connected.
Practice description
I offer one-to-one counselling for adults in an online confidential and supportive setting. My integrative approach means I tailor sessions to you, rather than expecting you to fit a particular model of therapy. I am planning to provide a 'walk and talk' service from May 2026.
You may come to therapy with a clear issue, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right. Together, we can explore difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, loss, relationship challenges, or feeling overwhelmed by life changes. I also have experience supporting people navigating transitions such as retirement, relocation and shifts in identity—times that can feel both unsettling and full of possibility.
My work draws on person-centred principles to create a safe and accepting space, alongside CBT and solution-focused techniques where helpful, to support insight and practical change. I aim to help you understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, while also supporting you to find new ways forward.
I value creating a space where you feel respected, heard and able to speak freely. Therapy with me is not about judgement or quick fixes, but about building awareness, confidence and meaningful change over time.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure or even anxious about what to expect. The first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy, and begin to get a sense of whether we feel like a good fit. Prior to this, any contact we have will be free of charge.
There’s no pressure to share everything straight away. We will go at your pace, focusing on what feels most comfortable for you to talk about. However, I will ask you to share some personal details in this session. These include your GP details, NOK, and address. I will ask some gentle questions to understand your situation, your goals, and what you might hope to gain from therapy.
This session is also a chance for you to ask any questions about how I work. I will explain confidentiality, how sessions are structured, and what you can expect moving forward.
Above all, my aim is to help you feel at ease and supported from the outset. Taking that first step can be difficult, but it can also be the beginning of meaningful change.
