Availability
I work out of a dedicated counselling room at Dialogue & Space, located just off Easter Road. I apologise but currently the building does not have access for those with mobility issues. The space is up a flight of stairs. I also have some online availability.
If you are looking for postnatal support, you can bring your baby to counselling. However I have found that this works best with babies that are pre-crawling. You can find out more information about me and my practice on my website.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Amy.
Perhaps you’re here because life feels overwhelming, or you have the sense that you’re not good enough or even that you’re ‘too much’.
Whatever has led you to therapy, I aim to offer a non-judgemental space where you can feel safe enough to explore your experiences.
I believe that when we’re met with care in a warm relationship we can process emotions that might initially feel too intense. Thus, helping you feel more grounded, understood and connected to yourself and others. I have supported people experiencing a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, sexual assault, infertility, pregnancy and parenthood.
Practice description
I am trained in both person-centred and psychodynamic theory.
Therapy can be a space to explore how past relationships and experiences might be influencing you today. At their best, relationships offer care, connection, and mutual support. But sometimes, they can be sources of pain, confusion, or trauma. Working relationally means that I pay attention to the relationships in your life - how they impact you, and how past experiences may shape the present.
While a therapeutic relationship can be healing, it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Our lives are shaped by wider cultural, social, and political forces. These influences affect how we see ourselves, how we’re seen by others, and how we move through the world. So while our work will focus on you, we’ll not lose sight of the world around us.
In our work, I’ll meet you with honesty, compassion and maybe a gentle challenge here and there to invite deeper exploration.
My first session
Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, it's important that you find someone who you can be authentic with and who you feel comfortable talking to. I offer a free 30-minute consultation so we can start to get to know one another and explore whether we might be a good fit.
I strive to make therapy as accessible as possible. Therefore, I offer reduced fees for people who are on parental leave, students, refugees, unemployed or low waged.
