About me and my therapy practice
I work with LGBTQ+ adults in individual and group psychotherapy.
My way of working is reflective, relational, and psychodynamic. People come whether they are feeling confused, overwhelmed, or simply unsure where to start. Therapy is a place to slow things down and pay attention to what has been shaping your experience over time, including patterns that repeat, moments that feel stuck, or ways of relating that no longer feel possible to live with.
I am interested in how experience takes form in relationship, and in what becomes thinkable when it is not rushed or explained away. There is no expectation to arrive with clarity or a clear narrative. We work at a pace that allows something new to be noticed.
I have particular experience working with gay men and trans people.
Practice description
People come for different reasons. Some feel caught in anxiety, shame, or self-criticism. Others notice difficulties in relationships, identity, intimacy, or belonging. Often there is a sense that familiar ways of coping are no longer working.
Our work is not organised around fixing or managing symptoms, but around understanding how these experiences have developed and what they may be responding to. Therapy offers a place to think together about this, over time.
Alongside individual work, I also offer group therapy. Groups provide a different way of exploring patterns of relating, allowing experiences of difference, connection, and belonging to be noticed and thought about in the presence of others.
My first session
A first session is a chance to begin talking and to get a sense of how it feels to work together. There is no assessment to pass and no expectation that you arrive with a clear account of what you want to work on.
Some people come with a specific difficulty in mind; others arrive with a more general sense that something is not working as it once did. Both are welcome. We take the time available and work with what is present.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. My standard fee is £80 per session.
I currently have space for up to two lower-fee, longer-term therapy places. These are offered on a limited basis and discussed as part of an initial conversation.
Before booking a first session, I offer a brief initial conversation to see whether working together feels appropriate.
