About me and my therapy practice
Launching 2026, The Wellbeing Body Counselling and Psychotherapy Service will be offering accessible, face-to-face counselling at a subsidised rate of £30 per session, delivered by compassionate, caring and dedicated trainee psychotherapists.
Our students are supported to train to a high standard, gaining experience across different settings and taking part in voluntary community outreach to develop their skills, empathy and professional confidence. Each trainee receives regular Â鶹Դ´-aligned clinical supervision to ensure safe, ethical and meaningful therapeutic work.
I have created this service as many people want to begin therapy but feel unable to due to cost or confidence. This service has been designed to remove those barriers and to help you take the first step toward regaining control of your mental health, rebuilding confidence, improving self-esteem, and making sense of difficult thoughts or emotions. At the Wellbeing Body we believe everyone deserves a space to feel heard, supported, and understood without financial pressure holding them back and we want to support you in taking those first steps at a pace that feels right for you.
Spaces are limited.
If you’re considering therapy or would like to explore working together, email us at enquiries@thewellbeingbody.com and we can arrange for a phone conversation on a date and time that works for you.
Based in Derby you can access our practice by car, bus or train.
Practice description
I’m Lydia, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and PhD psychology researcher at Southampton University- exploring adult wellbeing following childhood traumatic loss.
With more than ten years in the mental-health field, my work has spanned clinical education on inpatient hospital wards, therapeutic support for children in residential care, and consultation and reflective support for staff teamsworking with young people affected by trauma, attachment disruptions and emotional dysregulation.
My experience includes:
• Clinical education and therapeutic support on paediatric and adolescent wards, offering emotional containment, early intervention, and mental-health education.
• Providing psychotherapy to children and young people in a residential children’s home, using trauma-informed, attachment-aware and creative approaches.
• Supporting staff teams through reflective practice, emotional education, and trauma-informed guidance to help them understand and respond to complex behaviour safely and compassionately.
These roles have deepened my commitment to understanding how past experiences shape current emotions, relationships and sense of identity. Many people come to therapy during moments of transition, uncertainty, low self-esteem or when they’re seeking clarity and emotional resilience. My aim is to create a grounded, collaborative space where you feel heard, validated and supported to make meaningful change.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, with flexible in-person and online options depending on your needs.
Whether you work with me or with one of our supervised trainees our aim is to help you make sense of your emotions, rebuild confidence and self-esteem, strengthen resilience, and feel more in control of your mental health and direction in life.
My first session
To begin your therapy journey with The Wellbeing Body, simply email enquiries@thewellbeingbody.com. We will then arrange a brief telephone consultation at a date and time that suits you.
This initial call gives you the chance to share what brings you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether our service feels like the right fit for your needs. There is no pressure and no obligation to continue.
If we feel like a good match, we’ll book your first full session and talk you through everything you need to know so you feel informed, supported and comfortable from the very beginning.
All enquiries are handled confidentially and with care. And if, for any reason, we are not the most suitable service for your needs, we will always offer signposting to appropriate support.
