About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults from all walks of life who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, work-stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, abuse, trauma, loneliness, anger, or life transitions.
I believe that every client comes to therapy with unique experiences and challenges, and with the potential for change. I offer a containing, confidential therapeutic space for you to contemplate and confront your challenges - with empathy, authenticity and gentleness - at your own pace.
About me
I began my career as a Public Health doctor, and this background gives me a broad perspective on the whole spectrum of mental health issues and services.
Although I was motivated and thriving in public health, I chose to step outside my comfort zone after I benefited from counselling during a difficult phase of my life. As I discovered that therapy can be an invaluable opportunity to reflect, heal, reframe and recover a sense of direction and meaning, I found myself drawn to training as a counsellor.
I have had four years of psychodynamic training at the Tavistock Centre. I then gained an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling over three years.
Practice description
My work is underpinned by the therapeutic relationship i.e., building trust and understanding with my clients and working with each individual and their unique circumstances and internal resources in a sensitive, nourishing and meaningful way.
Areas I work with
• Anxiety & panic
• Depression & low mood
• Loss & bereavement
• Stress & burnout
• Relationship issues
• Self-esteem & identity
• Trauma & abuse
My training in public health and preventive medicine enables me to think more holistically about mental health and foster protective strategies. I have a deep understanding of mind-body connections and vast experience of working with complex health and social conditions within diverse client groups.
Enabling access to counselling through de-stigmatising seeking help for mental health issues is an important driver for me.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel confusing, with lots of mixed feelings. I offer a free, no-pressure 10-to-15-minute phone or online consultation so you can get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you might have before committing.
If you wish to proceed, then in the first session, I usually explain how we will work together and discuss confidentiality and also go through a few questions to assess what you hope to get out of your sessions.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are conducted online via Zoom or phone
Fees: £70 per session; circumstantial concessions considered
